To summarize if you don't want to read the whole thing: some smart ppl are saying we should up the minimum daily value of vitamin D in our diets from 200 IU to 2000 IU (200 being the recommended daily amount for those under 50).

2000 is not the max being given out pretty commonly now. Often once or twice a month. The prescription pills are getting pricey too.
I know people on 10,000, 20,000, and 50,000 per month prescriptions. If you think you have an actual problem you should get your level checked first. Know if you have an actual deficiency by current standards or at least know your starting point before you mess with it.
Vitamin D has been a big help in pain relief due to auto-immune diseases and helps a lot with depression.

What? How does a dome have two stories?

It looks like a wart on the top of a big dome, never been inside while concious enough to pay attention to how the heck they did it. The top section wasnt really a floor that supported weight except for monkey bunnies climbing around, acted more like a teepee top for ventilation. Just a weird structure.

First went to a Secret Fire with my wife Karen mostly to see what Jef was up to and got very excited about it all. Really opened up my wifes view of the music too. Forget which Secret Fire that was but it was at the Boy Scout place.
That prompted me to take special friend Magi to Metatronic 2. That's still one of my favorites just because we had such a good time. I was supposed to be doing Reiki for the late shift but mostly danced and talked.
Earthdance in I think 2007, was maybe the best one we were at. The last one with my wife before she passed, had a version of her portableTemple there. Many good memories of that weekend. Think I'm back together enough emotionally to come back. Would love to be at Earthdance this year but so far looks like work will screw that.

A guy my family knows died last sunday due to complications of H1N1 flu. He was 58 and a healthy overall man. He was an on call firefighter/emt and had retired from working at the post office for 30+ years. Once it hits close to home you can see how powerful it can be. It's kind of scary.

Sorry to hear that. On the other hand, talk abut hitting close to home, a person very important to me has a badly compromised immune system and therefore was recently given vaccines for seasonal flu, h1n1, and pneumonia. As a result she got very ill and was vomitting and crapping explosively for 3 days. Kept her hydrated at least but throwing up her meds too soon after ingestion etc…She was going into shock when I got her to the hospital. By the time I arked the car they had 3 ports in her already and I was told a few more hours and we'd have lost her too.
There are no simple answers.

A wonderful thing you've done spending time with her and being sensitive to her feelings. Everyone else did the best they could I'm sure but often there is just nothing you can say that helps. I got to tell you, i feel good just imagining her smile and I've been falling back into depression over losing my wife last year so thank you. You're a good person.
Your take on spirituality and human needs was very interesting too. No time to comment now though.

Actually I much prefer his interviews, photos, and spoken word recordings with snippets of his writing (a really good one has Kurt Cobain doing some interesting guitar work behind him). I really wanted to like his writing but never have been able to appreciate it. He's much better as a beat icon than an actual writer. Ok he did help break some ground but I dont think he made much grow out of it. Love the guy though.

I think what we know of the bible is so far from the original text that we don't even know what we're reading. From what I've read of it, it seems to be all based in metaphor. So what we have is an ancient book of metaphors that has been translated over and over again throughout the centuries.

And translated poorly at that.
Not all metaphor, some can be as meaningful taken literally or in both ways, the trick is to know which is which. What is physical human history and what is spiritual history, what is past, present, future…
Language sets up a natural dichotomy here. On the one hand you might want to remember the limitations of language and the very limited vocabulary of the time. Actually great concepts of quantum physics et al now explained in common language are in there but without any techy quasi scientific terms. On the other hand knowing the multiple meanings of Hebrew words and letters, similar also in Aramaic and Greek, all used in the bible, the meanings get much deeper than the surface reading or the authoritarian spin put on it by churches. And that's without exploring gematria.
Now the fun I have with it is discussing the bible with my fundie coworker / friend. We do pretty good for a while in the old testament until we both start shaking our heads wondering how the other got from the point of understanding and agreement to some weird conclusion! so it goes…

so is HIV.  It's not profitable to cure vs keeping people on thousands of dollars of meds each month.  I don't expect a cure to come from a US pharma company.  Most likely will be from a foreign socialist country where it would be cost saving to cure it.

all the reasearches indicating that the biggest cause of most types cancer is lack of certain vitamins esp. D (sun exposure) and B17 (best source are apricot kernels) almost absent in modern diet in majority of developed countries.

Decades ago, wasn't there some drug people were running to Mexico for that was made from apricot pits? Not sure if it was over hyped or if it was “discredited” by the AMA, don't hear about it anymore.

My point is, just do it, don't worry about what is legal and what the mainstream society will think about it. Because no matter what you do, somebody is going to not like it, or think you are sinners or infidels.

One thought I had was that there is a strong link between Goa dance culture and Shivite Hinduism. Right there is a clear path to a religion – worship of Shiva through dance. Everyone should learn more about Hinduism and consider adopting the religion if they want a clear path from trance dance to Spirituality.

I hear ya on the whole psy scene/Shiva sect crossover. Maybe Goa parties are really just an extension of Shiva ritual?
Speaking of “Goa'n” to start a new religion, I recently read some philosophies of the Rastafarians and their use of Word-Sound-Power and how they reshaped a language into their own.

From the essay “Up-full Sounds: Language, Identity, and the Worldview of the Rastafari”, by John W. Pulis, which was presented at the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association in 1990, “When used in reference to person, self or individual, the “I” signified the cornerstone of a renegotiated construction of identity known as 'I-n(within)-I.'” The development of “Dread Talk” (the deep Jamaican patois spoken by adherents of the Rastafarian religion/culture) was a conscious exercise in breaking down the sounds of English words and reassembling them into new words (“up-full” sounds, “heartical” sounds) that were free from the negative, divisive and misleading sounds and character the words possessed in the language of “Babylon” (meaning the language of the white colonists that had enslaved them).

For example, the de sound prefix in the word dedicate (pronounced dead-di-cate) was deleted because of its sound-sense similarity to the de sound in the English words death and destruction. The de prefix was replaced by a sound that signified its opposite, not in Creole, but in English, i.e., live, creating the up-full liv-i-cate. The un sound in words such as understand was replaced by the o sound of over as in overstand, implying that all speakers are competent, i.e., no speaker of Creole, English, or Dread Talk is under, beneath, or below another. The up sound in the word oppression was replaced by down, as in down-press-I, because [oppression pushes people down, not up]. … the suffix dom was deleted from the word wisdom because of its similarity to the word dumb…The Creole mon, i.e., man, replaced the suffix dumb creating the word-sound wiz-mon.

And everywhere in this recreation of language is “I”:

The con sound in words such as kon-scious and kon-trol was associated with the k sound in the Creole word kunni, meaning clever. [or “to con” – “to deceive”] It was replaced by the first-person pronoun I, as in I-trol and I-scious…The first person I replaced the u or you-sound, the second-person derivative, in words such as unity and human creating the words I-nity and I-man, similar to the word-sounds I-trol and I-scious.

This topic is vast,  Rastafarians and their Dread Talk language honor the “I” without violently rejecting the separate and divisive ego, but rather by transcending it through the simple removal of its place in their linguistic heritage.

“I and I embraces the congregation in unity with the Most I (high) in an endless circle of I-nity (unity).”

I think this idea extends to trance culture and rewriting culture in general.  😉

Very interesting, and well explained, post. I'd not given this much thought in years but it really brings back those first weeks sitting around trying to figure out what “Natty Dred” was about back in whatever seventies it was that Marley finally hit here. The I n I part has always stuck with me but forgot most of the rest.
As any good magickian knows words have power. Best to remember that. Further, sound and color have power. Much healing work is done using sound and color as the basic tool.

Nice… a very similar idea had occurred to Carli and I over the summer while discussing various ways to decorate the Rave….(snip for brevity)

Simple concept… use PVC piping, PVC connectors, and fabric. This allows your deco to be easily assembled/disassembled and transportable. As much as I'd love to build some giant creation I don't want to have to rent trucks to get it from Chicago to wherever. My Prius doesn't haul a lotta stuff  ;D

So Nate… to answer your question the answer is YES, it's already being worked on. We're gonna rock it in 2008  😀 😀

Don't really know the people and can't offer any suggestions but it may be encouraging to know for a few years now there's been a group at the Starwood Festival by ACE (Association for Consciousness Exploration) in NY, we know them as the “dead bunny” or “bunny on a stick” people, have been building a two story dome like structure from PVC tubing and canvas that has weathered horrific storms and looks very cool.
