Veck93MemberYet another leader of my generation fading away, really need some replacements!
I am glad that the community stepped forth to take care of him in the end to make his passing more pleasant.
Ok now I see where I went wrong. I read it as a leader who is of your generation not a leader of (as in for) your generation.
That the community helped is very encouraging. There have been other calls to help elders out of serious conditions that met with mixed results but generally the internet has helped people across the world with common interests become a virtual community and allowed donations to be sent so fast it has real effect on lives. Aside from the call for donations there were people helping him sell off his stuff and things like Phil Farber (author/lecturer/NLP teacher and cool dude) pulling an old tape of RAW giving a seminar at his place and getting it out on DVD almost overnight to raise money.
We obviously can't rely on government and family structure ain't what it used to be. There have always been benefits for injured or dying musicians since they generally don't have insurance (and going way way back tot he rent party thing) but now that attitude is needing to spread throughout communities. We only got each other folks.
Veck93MemberI guess anyone that me and many people my age looked up to for interesting ideas that made us think is considered a leader to me. I am sorry you are offended by claiming him 😛
This is the 2nd or 3rd time someone thought I was offended when I posted. Not at all. I just thought it was funny. I read your post and said wow he doesnt look old enough to be of RAW's generation, shit I wish I looked that good for my age and Im not nearly as old as Wilson. I am happy to see there are folks here who appreciated his work and spirit.
I'd really be interested to hear who do you see as up and coming “replacements”? Wilson's gone, Leary's gone, Terrance McKenna left early. Warmed my hear to hear some Noam Chomsky laid over some tracks last fall. But who are the next generation to push the envelope?

Your generation? Your profile says you're 35! He wasn't even MY generation and I'll bet Im the oldest fart here. I had my first contact with RAW in '73 I think. We were in the Social Revolutionary Anarchist Federation which was the pre-net e
typing too fast on laptop results in sending unfinished posts….SRAF was the pre-net equivalent of a message board…members mailed in their correspondence to be mimeographed (yeah for real) and mailed out. as a result RAW for some still unknown reason all his own since he would never acknowledge sending it, mailed me a package of weird newspaper clippings and a book by Aleister Crowley that my wife happened to have just mentioned to me she wanted to get into. It was a mind blower to open that package. Never really got to know the man though our paths crossed now and then.
and responding to another post…far as I can tell there haven't been any significant new ideas in a few thousand years. He put esoteric knowledge into language modern westerners could understand mostly without the metaphysical doubletalk that usually accompanies or veils these same concepts. Crowley said it was all in the Tao Te Ching, Paul Foster Case implied it was all in the Yoga Sutras, other's have said it's all in the “Old Testament”(with kabballistic interpretation of course). They seem to be correct. But in person for a long time, unless it was a mind machine seminar, Pope Bob tended to go into conspiracy theories with dry wit. More entertainment than substance but with a zen attitude of shaking you out of preconceived notions of how the world works. Agree that could be disappointing if you had any other expectations.

Veck93Memberwell, if they are lining up talent for clubs I would think they are doing so for a profit and would be entitled to a profit/markup for their work
(all parties are considered innocent until proven guilty by a court of law) ;D
but yeah it's a shady business fo' sure
It's like they made a deal with you to dj for a number of bucks, you sign a contract that you get so much and they get a fair percentage. Then they dummy up the contract so the club is signing a different one that says they pay you MORE money, only YOU don't get a penny of that, they take all of that plus the fair pecentage you agreed to on what they actually do pay you. If in fact that is proven to be true people like you got ripped off. Clubs were willing to pay more for talent is the good news, the talent didnt get the money is the bad news. It sounds like the clubs were getting ripped off but they got what they paid for, it's the talent that gets burned.
Veck93Membera little behind the times on this one but I'll add him to our Reiki list to continue his improvement and hopefully heal the root causes of that ulcer. Talked to him a little last time out there. Good people.

Veck93MemberSo according to the newest and oldest philosophies on earth we are not responsible for our own reality, the elves are? What a relief!!!! It's not my fault!!!!! Those damned elves.
And what's the reference to nordic about? Never heard any of the northern mysteries referred to as having anything to do with aliens or other dimensions but then I'm coming at it from a magickal/conciousness exploration background not alien perspective. Curious about that.

Veck93MemberOk, a little late on the uptake here but its a slow day at work and I have just gotten around to wandering through the back pages.
Thanks for the linguistic references, always enjoy finding the connections between words, the development of words and ideas jointly, et al.
Mathematics is universal and yes you don't even have to be human if you can decipher the agreed on meanings of a handful of symbols. The history of mathematics has continually exposed spiritual concepts. Each form of mathematics (Pythagorean, Newtonian, etc) has reached deeper, not necessarily denying the previous forms but rather going beyond, sometimes looking from a totally different perspective that allows vision of other truths that do not deny the previous even if it sometimes makes them seem simplistic and irrelevant (probably a situational thing).
Personally I haven't the patience or aptitude for mathematics but as a spiritual seeker am always pleased when someone explains with great enthusiasm their newfound understanding of a theory that clearly says what we have known for thousands of years through the Vedas, the Kabballah, the Hougans and Shamans of the world.
Which reminds me (thinking about kabballah and gematria)…Karen and I were talking about some lessons we study and the notebook she was carrying chock full of occult diagrams and stuff, as we wandered down to the main stage at Crystal Moon or whatever it was called and the first thing we see on the video was a Tree of Life floating by…followed by a pentacle and I think a planetary seal or something…a nice synchronystic moment…believe it said Merkaba was dj with and Mekabalah on vid (LOVE that name).

Veck93MemberAlways just what the way you like it!
it sure is a lot simpler, cheaper, doesn't take all night, you don't have to be polite afterwards, and believe me you can even get used to it and be happy…on the other hand (no pun intended) after an extended period like years…can sure feel good with another person. :-
Veck93Member“
dont go out on amature nights”
??? ??? ??? ??? :-
thems be fighting words there matey…….. (sorry just watched pirates)
really though i dont understand the nature of that comment as the crew is pro and there isnt an amature dj on the lineup either..
maybe im missing an inside something hereNOT referring to the crew/dj's or attendees…referring to nye, 4th of July, St. Pat's…when it's downright dangerous to be in a car or crossing a street. Usually stay safely inside, so we'll have to stay until dawn. What's a good cheap breakfast around there?
Veck93MemberStretching the budget some and breaking our “dont go out on amature nights” rule but what the hell, we deserve it!
Jef – a couple other old pagans got tickets already too, you might know Bella and Brian from Indiana…close friends of Linda B. (may she be resting in the arms of the Goddess). They've been to a few club events with me, scheduling never allowed them making it to the outdoor extravaganza's.
is it party time yet?!

Veck93MemberI couldn't get there until dusk on Saturday so I missed some but what I caught we well worth the effort! At anything on this scale there had to be problems but they weren't apparent and nothing that interfered with the experience. Great job folks!
The venue was so much better than expected. Good choice. In spite of the amazingly healthy insect population, some of whom apparently took offense at my being there and a few who came home with us. If there's another event there I'd get there earlier and make good use of the lake etc.
The music…what can you say…not enough. DJ's I've heard before outdid themselves. Other's just blew me away. Too many musical moments to comment on. At both stages. My feet are still sore. many tranced times.
Festival moments…hot sweaty afternoon falling out at the campsite with the most appropriate and unexpected mix of reggae dubs floating in the air…quotes from Chomsky (yeah!!!) and Leary (oh yeah!!!)…Sunday late morning with some mellow psy sounds floating over the lake as people play in the water and birds flying and singing along the shore… nice fire…and that incredible jam in the early morning hours
And the video was incredible! Most of it well exceeded anything I've seen in the clubs.
everyone was friendly and cool regardless of style or ages which looked to be about 6 months to 60 years. Very cool scene.be well until next time everyone!
