the point was I bought ableton and my macbook at the same time and the issues went away.. so now I can't really say which was the problem. Supposedly certain people were using the same crack and having no problems… but then that has a lot to do with your interface, plug-ins, track/channel count, and porn.

sorry for admitting my past mistakes  :-[

also take into account the types of interfaces you'll end up using.. be sure to read up on the firewire chipsets..

one year even the macbook pros had went with cheap firewire chips and they don't handle multi channel soundcards very well.. when I was having issues on my PC I think it was probably due to that and vista and a hacked version of ableton rolled into one BIG problem. any one of those issues may not bother you or it may have been THE one problem..

all I know is that i bought the mac and haven't used that pc for anything audio related in 18 months.. I do have to re-format the mac every now and again.

one thing I do want to say about my macbook pro: its pretty. its strong. it has a backlit keyboard. LOL!

seriously though.. when I got it I was just sick of windows; now I realize that was mostly my issues.. BUT I've opened up this macbook pro and I can just see, feel, and smell why they are more valuable than the average consumer windows based laptop. its like the umbrella corporation labs, ya know? how they are all clean and futuristic; thats what the guts of macs look like. after 10 months of use in a house with 2 dogs and a cat there was NO dust inside my laptop when I switched out the hard drive (for more space)…. this is EPIC for ME. I try to be responsible and keep stuff clean.. sometimes its worth it to pay someone else to take responsibility.

I imagine you should go with a pc though.. save money.. follow there advice; I will add: look at the structure of the machine, don't doubt that shit will get spilled on it.. you'll play live in the heat and/or freezing cold.. you might even be rocking so hard it will get knocked off the stand 4 feet to the hardwood floor  😛 will it take that abuse? will it take it AND have AT LEAST 4gb of GOOD ram and AT LEAST 2ghz per core in that processor?

don't forget live 8 has been out for over a year; most DAW's are probably due for an upgrade sooner than you are going to want to shell out for another laptop.. DAW's typically make sure the product works smoothly on an average system.. but what will be average in 9 months?

i know even my macbook pro from two summers back isn't liking what I'm trying to do now. Traktors deck A and B running through soundflower into seperate channels in live 8 with NI Maschine on another channel and 2 fx returns bussed to another channel all sent out to a mixer.. It might just be my new interface NI Audio DJ 8.. 8 channels through frickin USB might be too much  :'(

personally I'd like to do MUCH more on one computer.. and I suck at all this shit.

just buy a drum machine  😛

I'm going out on a limb here  :-

Is there anyone who has a spot for an air mattress in their home? Scott is giving me the opportunity to open up with a set. I've been to a few parties and still haven't really met anyone so I'll understand if your not comfortable letting me stay..

I'd be coming up from Kansas City with my girlfriend. I'm super strapped for cash because I just bought a new mixer and traktor; the day before Scott replied to my inquiry  :-[

I'd probably need a ride to and from the train station as well… I'm not so broke that I can't pay a fair amount of gas money  ::) I'm just trying to cut costs any way possible.

I can sweeten the deal by offering to be a DD as I don't have any intentions on drinking or anything.   :-*

I watched the first one.. I was influenced by how cheesy the video was! interesting.

the situation actually happened to me personally. I was 15 and skateboarding at a public skatepark around 10PM; I fractured my tibia and fibula trying to grind a ledge.

It sounded like your average 2 x 4 snapping (loud!) and with my knee naturally facing foward my foot was 90degrees to the left!

I was hopping around holding my foot up, panicing, shaking, and yelling wtf over and over…. there were like 20-40 other people there, older guys… parents watching kids… etc.. it literally took like 4-5 minutes for one guy to come put his arm under my shoulder and help me to a bench. it was rediculous. at ~3 minutes everyone in park was circled around me just watching me traumatically hop around on one leg…………

it was the most intense level of pain I've ever felt… I had euphoric rushes and tingles similar to peaking on 150+ mg of MD?? and the pain was still making me sick and dizzy 🙁

    people suck

you have to register but its probably worth it for free passes to see tron in the IMAX!!!

I would do it if my city was on the list  >:(

you do have to get there super early at these things… at least an hour if you want a good seat.

Sin Nombre is amazing for a “coming of age” type thing.

The HorsemAn is awesome for a “revenge flick”.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World was f*&in AWESOME! for a “teen dramady”. Seriously, the cover and previews were aweful, the Director though! Edgar Wright: Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, (just informed) the Don't trailer in between the Grindhouse Movies!

but I'm a sucker for stylistic productions… hence why I've always like modern psy compared to the classics.

Machete is more fun than Predators.

The Good The Bad The Weird would probably be better sober. (10.5% beers are like illusions, I just don't understand)

so based on this, what should I rent tonight? I've seen just about everything. lol.

yeah… pretty much ever ensemble takes too much time for me to “learn” right now… I never get along with presets or anything so I pretty much have to learn a synth to actually use it. of course if I were smart and had just recorded all my noodlings with reaktor ensembles I'd have one hell of a library to sample! I want to actually build something in it, I think I need better instruction than the manual that comes with it.

yeah I have the demo of fl studio on my pc… but having the demo limitations and a difficult time switching between that and my mac/ableton setup is very un-inspiring..

man my new studio turned out sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice that I'm not sure if I should be going to earthdance! I spent like 2000 over the last couple of weeks  😛

designingsound.org    is pretty cool if your into-getting into recording with mics/field recordings I flipped all the way back to his first post and got stuck reading/listening for hours…. sucks alot of the older audio recordings are down 🙁

scatter: http://createdigitalmusic.com/2010/08/04/the-most-out-of-windows-7-choosing-and-optimizing-windows-for-music/#more-12534  I'm on a mac and don't ever want to switch… but I'm also a couple months after warranty and with a 95% full hard drive i'm seeing that colorful pin wheel A LOT more.

destroysound: is it worth d/ling? I can't watch the video at work.. but I found the other twisted tools to have a harder learning curve for reaktor noobs like myself….  or should I say.. I'll d/l it when I get home is it worth learning how to use lol?
