Damon – I don't mind the drive to downtown… BUt I have suddenly run into a snag with the weekend. There's stuff on the 29th I can't get out of, and I don't know if I can drive, party, drive, and do whatever else the next day. Who all here will be at Onomatopeia tomorrow? I should be there, and I should have a better idea of what my schedule is by then.

I'm in the western burbs of chicago and I have three seats – anyone looking for a ride? I think I may take the long way around and pick up varun, which would cut my free seats down to two, but I haven't decided yet whether I want to drive that far. 😛

I'm also game for another party, if anyone knows one closer. 🙂 And what about an afterparty?

Well, I got in touch with some people and we are discussing logistics now.

If anything comes of this I'll let everyone here know, just in case somebody wants to drive 1000+ miles for a little event. 😛

Thanks for the recommendations. I've never really had a gathering of this size before, who would I talk to in order to help me work out what I need to have lined up for this, should it become a reality?

I looked on the 'family' page, but nearly everyone there has “event management” listed as part of their responsibilities. Is there one person in particular to ask, do I ask everyone, or will anyone do? 🙂 heh.

I listen to a bizzarre mix of metal, ambient and psy.

So for my non-psy stuff, I've really been enjoying the Gamma Ray albums “Majestic” and “Somewhere Out in Space”, and my current favorite track of the week is “Into the Black Hole”, with close runners-up being “Pray”, “Shine On” and “Blood Religion”.

The other night I was listening to Hawkwind's “Space Is Deep” and Litmus's “Rays of Sonic Light” and “(Theta Wave) Inductor”.

Juno Reactor's new album, Labrinth, is a regular in my CD player, with my favorite song being “Zwara”.

The Chemical Brothers and The Crystal Method have made a couple appearances, though I can't think of which songs specifically.

I played some albums from both Electric Light Orchestra and ABBA earlier this week. DragonForce is another regular on my playlist (“Black Winter Night”, “Dawn of a New World” and “My Soul Will Go On” being some of my favorites), as is my favorite band, Nightwish (“Sleeping Sun”, “Ghost Love Score”, “Where Were You Last Night”, “Wish I Had An Angel” and “Live To Tell The Tale” being recently played songs).

And last but not least, I played Brian Eno's “Ambient 2: The Plateaux Of Mirrors” this morning when I got up (ok, yeah, I know it's weird to play ambient music to wake up to. so sue me.).

I have yet to upload photos of what I look like at this time, but these are pretty close. The major difference is my short beard.

At Dreamfields I wore all black and had a black boonie hat on for most of the show. I also hung out with a little (as in size, not age :P) girl with bleached hair who for most of the nights was wrapped up in a blanket.

Thanks everyone for the incredibly awesome time. This was my first weekend-long fest, and only my second intro to the scene – words can't accurately describe how much I enjoyed the party. I enjoyed meeting Psygomin (and his chill set on the second stage – wow wow wow was that ever so awesome! I enjoyed it so much I endured lying on the hard ground and in the cold morning air to hear it), PsyloPsyBen (thanks for the mix CD) and a bunch of other people who's names flew right out of my head or I never got.

I'm usually a pretty active dancer but the show was too much, by sunday morning I was so overwhelmed I had to just sit and listen for the most part. Whoever those three (or were there four? I can't remember, it's all one big blur) DJs were were just amazing…

The venue was just perfect. I had our tent out by the unmown field and could hear the chill stage perfectly.

I'm going back to Texas this weekend, I wish I had made a more serious effort to get into the scene here – especially after seeing Astral Projection and now Dreamfields – but I hope to make some trips back up here if it doesn't work out for me to actually move back.
