No one was playing the music I wanted to hear at parties so I figured I may as well step in to make it happen… this was back in 2000 when minimal was becoming big (and I was still quite militant about the old school Goa trance sound).

Yes, everyone up here is nuts about it.

I thought it was quite brainless and hammed up to be honest. A lot of what they present is downright wrong… plenty of it is emotionally manipulative. As far as I'm concerned this sort of thing preys upon ignorance… which isn't to say that some of the central messages are off–but they screw those up as well. Take part one for example–is it news to anyone that religions are often formed from pre-existing mythologies? Yet they still manage to botch the presentation, citing numerous falsehoods in the pursuit of making a point.

I'd say don't waste your time… but other people really dig it for one reason or another.

Don't you enjoy that feeling you get when you know an album is a sure thing? I'm going to order this whenever it comes out and surprise myself… no previewing, no samples, nothing. I'm sure it's going to be great.

Strangely enough, I am… but I am rather particular with what sort of psycore I like. The Russian artists Osom, Psykovsky, Kindzadza, Furious, and CPC all produce quality stuff at extreme tempos. Some of the netlabel artists do a good job too–Jesus Raves and Xikwri Neyrra have some promising material. The main thing for me is that I am seeking psychedelic complexity in high tempos… and a lot of guys are just making angry noisy nonsense. Psykovsky though? This guy is using frequencies that people don't even understand yet… for what ultimate aims I am not sure, but in the right setting this kind of thing can short circuit your consciousness… like I once said to a friend, it's the sonic equivalent of a devastating Zen koan.
