not really a movie, but started watching the battlestar galactica tv show with the hubs.. we're just on season 1 but I like it! nerd out!

Highly recommend it…was the best show on TV at one point.  Also suggest the current prequel series called Caprica on SyFy now.

Carli and I just blazed through BSG in the past couple months. Great stuff; it seems to place #1 on many “Best of Sci Fi TV Series” lists.

This looks fucking awesome but I don't think I have enough geeks to play it with here in Chicago

Here's what Tim Buckley from Ctrl+Alt+Del had to say about it… makes it sound pretty appealing… now if I could only get a crowd togeather 🙂

It plays out just like the show, full of paranoia, danger, drama and deceit. At the beginning of the game, everyone draws a loyalty card, which you keep hidden. Everyone is assumed human, but some of your fellow players could be cylon. Additionally, during a “sleeper phase” halfway through the game, someone who thought they were human could suddenly find out they're a cylon.

The cylons work secretly from within the fleet to prevent the humans from reaching their goal, which is reaching Kobol (future expansions to the board game deal with the story later in the series). The humans have a number of reserves (fuel, morale, population, food etc), and if any of them reaches zero before you make your final jump to Kobol, the humans lose.

Most events in the game take place through voting, which are done by playing cards face-down into a pile. A vote may need X points of certain colors to pass, while any other color detracts from the votes.

Cylons can also choose to reveal themselves, (and go out with a bang before waking up on the resurrection ship) which opens up an entirely different playstyle for them since they are now openly working against the humans.

The game is incredibly challenging for the humans. It captures the incredibly dire feel the show had as the humans are dogged by cylons at every jump, and constantly facing additional problems within the fleet. If you liked the show, and if you think you can get 3-6 people together for a few hours of fun, I'd highly recommend this board game. I had a lot of fun with it, and I'm already looking forward to playing it again.

    Awful movie.

Black Swan was really good.  Aranofsky continues to be one of my favorite directors.

Still sticking with the TV show addictions though.  I just finished Carnivale the other week (awesome), Friday Night Lights just ended 🙁 and now I've been on a straight rampage watching Damages, an FX show starring Glen Close.  It's way heavy on the lies, deceit, and twists and turns.  Highly recommended.

Ah, I did see this.  It was pretty good if I remember right, though perhaps a bit overrated.

I would highly recommend the tv series Fringe (new season is on now). I think it's in the 4th season now, lots of cool topics, interesting plot and some good humor.

Yes, Fringe!  I've been following that for awhile.  Def recommend starting from the beginning in order to catch up on the current plot line.  Walter Bishop is one of my fav TV characters of all time.  He openly talks about his liberal use of “chemistry”.  ;D

Totally. But I thought it had great campiness value, kind of like an Ed Wood flick.

I do want to see that. Aranofsky tries different stuff, not always successful, but usually intriguing. Something about Natalie Portman turns me off… like, she's a good actress and she knows it. I need to see it though.

she is truly outstanding in this one ^

just watch the saturday night live digital short before and after black swan.. it should cure your anti-portman vibe (which I do understand)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1191111/  I started to watch the first 20 minutes and couldn't stay awake.. I'm SUPER excited to get back to this one. I think it may be the second film that involves DMT? plus I really liked the directors previous flick: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290673/

his camera work is absolutely nuts.. my girlfriend literally can't watch them because the shaking makes her nauseous.
