underfootGuestFunny that trancefolk bandy about these catchy Eastern religous sayings like they're nothing.
Imagine if I went around Sacred Earth screaming, “Hallelujah! Praise Jesus!”
People would think I was crazy.

Oh, there are plenty of those wandering around psy parties. I seem to bump into them alot.

Underfoot brings out yet another pertinent point about phrases used at psy gatherings ;D 😀 😉 ;D
Personally, with the limited religious knowledge i have, I dont think that any of these phrases have
anything to do with Hinduism at all. Every person has a different reason to use them and I dont judge
anyone because I believe in the freedom of speech. Psy culture to me is secular overall and thats part
of the reason why people all over the world who like psy are more spiritual than religious like myself
are part of it 🙂
thefixerMemberI just hate those friggin Zoroastrians. “Sacred Flame” my ass.

Heyyyyyyy! I'm half Zoroastrian!
But I dont really care. I'm not allowed to go into the fire temple since my dad isnt Zoroastrian. It's one of those rules that are depleting the Parsi community in India. Sad.
I think freaks relate to Hinduism more because the fact that hash smoking, meditation, dance and sex are mixed up with religion is openly known. Babas are officially allowed to smoke pot for religious purposes. I've read that a lot of Christianity was formed out of mushroom cults. Well, even if there was any truth in that I bet the Vatican would be the last to verify it. I think our (mine at least) perception of “Hallelujah! Praise Jesus!” is connected to worship at a church. something seriously religious. But if it were otherwise, I bet there would be a lot more people doing the “Hallelujah” thing.
PauldoMemberPraise Jeebus! ;D
(From a Simpsons rerun last night where Homer is sent to a remote island as a missionary. Then he licks toads and his pupils get bigger. One of my fav episodes!)
thefixerMemberMan. I thought I could pick an inoffensive, nearly extinct religion to make fun of, and wouldn't you know . . . ::)
Actually I find the Flame to be a beautiful symbol of the divine, though the dualistic underpinnings of Zoroastrianism cause me some problems.

RobyoParticipantno doubt. they predate Judea”ism” with their good and evil dogma, (supposedly)… but who can really know such things? So much of early religion was transferred orally long before it was written down.
I do think it's possible that many of our corrupt religious institutions (like the roman catholic church) were first inspired by psychadelic experiences. Supposedly there is mushroom imagery in a lot of the catholic religious art of old… A lot of religious imagery is very psychadelic 🙂
