Hi,

This was a fun party. It was nice to finally attend my first chillum party since the birth of chilluminati. Teehee! Sorry it took so long but alas it happened. The music was a fairly good mix of “I DUNNO WHAT IT IS BUT IT SOUNDS GOOD” 🙂 which is the normal for my jaded self as many of you know. Laugh.

I saw a few old faces I haven't seen in over 2 years since I took my hiatus from the party scene so to those folks who do come on here that I saw, hello again and it was great seeing you again.

In the middle of the night Saturday, I remember telling somebody about a “bad feeling” I had about this event. I had a vibe kick in and I told my fiancee about it. She thought I was maybe a bit weird. Well, story ended up that that same night later on a few hours later, cops had showed. Word has it there were a few undercovers in the event. Source of information is unclear but made perfect sense. Apparently, somebody or some people were arrested. Anyhow, if this is the normal, it's sure going to bring an extremely bad vibe to any future Iowa events. But alas, in the end we all had fun and I especially enjoyed playing frisbee 🙂 laugh! HEEHEE!

Final words, the party was off the hook, we had a great time. Our three kids were loving it and I even saw HKNate on Sunday. Teehee. Didn't stay for your morning set, had to bounce and head back home. Anyways, thank you MOP and the Chillum for throwing another great event I got to attend.

Also, if anybody can provide me any information about this fellow who calls himself “Worth” would be great. Is he a trusting fellow? Something strange and very far away from “common sense” happened on Sunday morning with one of our kids. And I am a bit concerned about attending any future events if this guy is a norm at any of the future events. He seems to know some people so alas I would expect anybody with any feedback about him to private message me. If you are a parent and would like to know what happened, please private message me.

Thanks again chillum and MOP for throwing an otherwise great event. The vibe was a bit off, but overall, we did have an extremely great time. 🙂

Awesome show! The sound was amazing for this one. The system on the main stage should definitely make it out to Black River Falls imo. Ample bass, seriously. Like extra-strength bass. 170% of the required bass necessary to get the job done. Loved this venue. No problems with sound bleeding from one stage to another, and the barn was a surprisingly quiet and comfortable place to chill. Something fun going on everywhere. Coffee and tea/organic munchies was a damn good idea. So many amazing artists there as well. The visual elements were not overlooked… everyone did an excellent job with that, seriously.

Gorgeous view during the day and we couldn't have asked for better weather all weekend. At least from after 8 or so on fri from what I heard. Saw two shooting stars Saturday night. One of them was huge and arched right over the main stage at about 11:30 or so. I'm sure someone else saw it or at least suspected they may have seen it. Finally got a chance to see the stars after being cooped up in the city since June.

I wish I could've caught more of the head-lining performances but I'm getting pretty old and sober and can't stay up for days anymore. What I did see was killer though. I do think the main stage could've used a little more variety. Two things I wish I wouldn't have missed was that illusive “atmospheric DNB” and the trip hop by Kent Vogel and HipGnosis respectively.

Highlights for me was Aligning Minds on the chill stage Sunday morning. Organic jazz influenced dub-step = fuck yeah. Also Electroyptonoses'es chill set on the main stage Sat. That shit definitely reeled me in. I actually had to leave the breath-work workshop in order to go listen, which I was pretty bummed about cause that's something I've always been interested in. I've read about Pranayama here and there. Would like to see more emphasis on these kinds of workshops.

The worst part of this show for me was getting bitten by that little dog.

Oh yeah.. about the cops. Maybe I'm out of line but that's something you should more or less prepare for at an event like that. I think everyone would benefit from people being a little more discrete. Just little things like not weighing out your shrooms in front of the projector for light will go a long way in preserving the longevity of these events. It's disrespectful to the people throwing the party and you're risking the possibility of future events. If you give the cops a reason to shut down the party they will.. just sayin.

We arrived Saturday morning and had a good time checking out the music and workshops. I especially liked Machi's breathing workshop. Coral and Jellybeanz tag chill set was a highlight for me. So was Scott's goa set. It was also cool to hear Ascensions original music. It's definitely coming along. I also enjoyed Abe's trance set after the bonfire was lit.
I agree with Devious that the vibe was off Saturday night. The sound systems were constantly being turned up and down. I was also bummed that when I showed up to play my chill set Sunday morning,  the sound was turned off, there was another DJ already waiting to spin, and said he wasn't allowed to turn up the second stage for another few hours. Some BS about local sound ordinance, yet the mainstage was going off! Sounds like politics to me… I'm sorry to those folks who showed up to hear my set and were disappointed I wasn't able to play anything.
Special thanks to our camping neighbors Jay (thanks for the Jello shots, dude), Pauldo, Joe, and company, and Jeff Z. Oh, and it was awesome to see Fixer and Devorah at an event again, finally!

Hey Rob, keeping the second stage off was my call. I'm sorry about that. When I made that decision there wasn't anyone around that stage wanting to listen and I couldn't find anyone else who was scheduled to play. Hypgnosis and Omega were there, but they said they would prefer to play their sets when the volume was able to be turned back up. I should have told the sound guy to let you play at a lower volume if you wanted to, but things were pretty jumbled at this point. You probably also showed up when I was taking a nap :). Hopefully we can make it up to you- i always love your chill sets :).

My first psytrance party was a success. It was great to meet so many nice people.  I can't wait to attend more events next year when it gets warmer.  I could tell you all put a lot of hard work into the event and I think all the St. Louis people had an amazing time.

I met so many fantastic people I can hardly keep my head on straight. I wish I had carried around a notepad and kept track of names because many of them are lost in the jumble of such an overwhelming experience.

The midwest is soooo different!!!! I know people had to be looking at me and my little caravan like we were hillbillies or something for being so amazed by corn but seriously. THE CURNS!!!

The boxed wine experience is a sight to behold. I'm not used to seeing people get that drunk. I mean really I couldn't even understand what those people were even talking about. lol but whatever, if thats how you guys roll. It sure was entertaining. You haven't truly lived until you have witnessed a gentleman beat the shit out of someone with a bag of wine.

A note on the music, you guys are so lucky to have the local talent that you do!! We have our own different breed of exciting local flavor in the southeast… but I don't think anyone truly appreciates it until you travel. I mean seriously. The ooze man. The OOZE!!!
I can't believe you guys get the see them all of the time. Me and Christie were so damn excited. lol Their chill set was really rad. We only get to see them like 2- maybe 3 times a year. Don't take them for granted! I really really enjoyed ekimskrid, aktif, ascension, energon… the chill tent had some wild stuff going on but unforunately I never has any idea who was playing. as for the main acts. I already knew how amazing Electrypnose was cause I saw him last weekend. AMAZING. Unwashed Tomato was wonderful. Aligning Minds rocked my world.

someone walked past my tent at one moment and was talking about the 'two drunk chicks that danced all day' and I was like YEAHHH!! NC represent!!! The people you have at your parties are nuts. The midwest has a quality stock of weirdos unlike any I have ever seen. it must be in the curn.

I can't wait to come back out. Next time I am flying. That 19 hour drive was too much.

Huge thanks to everyone who made this happen and for having me out there to blast visuals all weekend long.  I had an amazing time, as always with MindoutPsyde and Chilluminati.  I couldn't come up with a single complaint if I had to.  You all have a truly special community out there.  I had a blast from beginning to end, seeing familiar faces and making new friends.  The weather was freakin' awesome.  I'm so glad that I decided to bring my girlfriend Ashley and I's UV paintings to setup in the dome.  It seems that they were very well received and people enjoyed them.  All the compliments that were received over the weekend is what really fuels us to keep on creating new stuff. 

I'll post more of a proper review later but for now just wanted to thank everyone who helped make this happen and to everyone who attended, you all rock!

Well, l had a great time.  It was a pleasure to see everyone again.  All that bullshit with the cops that happened Sunday morning was a real downer, but at least we were all still there as a community rockin out.  It was great hanging with Aligning Minds the whole weekend, and everyone had really good sets from what I heard.  Abe's set was deep, crazy, and truly transformative.  From what Jellyheadz and Ooze were actually able to play, well, it sounded great.  It's great that we did manage to save the party by turning up the sound at the end for Coral and then Niki; the latter I don't think everyone got to hear, but he played some awesome stuff at the tail end.  The venue was small but wonderful.  Thanks to everyone that was there a day early doing all the setup and a BIG thanks to Felix who went above and beyond IMO dealing with the sound.

Biggest complaint: it was real disappointing that we didn't have much chill going on the second night.  Dubstep's cool and all, but it feels like it took precedence over chill and I really hope that isn't a lasting trend (it kind of seems to be).  😛

Finally, I witnessed a lot of stupid shit happening over the weekend.  From the dude in the indian outfit taking over the dancefloor, being disrespectful to people, and being generally annoying; to certain people drinking way too much and becoming catatonic by the end of the party; to someone pissing on the dancefloor; to the people that ended up getting arrested…I think we all need to do a better job setting a good example and taking care of things when they need to be taken care of.  There's a fine line between self-expression/freedom and self-destruction and disrespect.  I feel that the line was perhaps crossed this time around a little more than usual.  Unfortunately, I don't think it was due to anyone that posts on this forum…it's always people that show up that nobody really knows who the fuck they are.  Our parties always seem to attract some of that and I'm beginning to feel less and less ok with it.  What to do?  I don't really know yet.  Anyone else have any thoughts?

Thanks for bringing up some criticism Phil. I had been thinking about this at the party and have had some small discussions about it. There were things that were handled well, there were some things that weren't and there were somethings that were 1 off acts of stupidity that no one could have done anything about. Most of the single instances I think we can just shrug off and usually serve as a warning to watch that the person doesn't do anything destructive.
