that's a great analogy, Deb. I think it can apply to much more that Chistmas, like the whole of human creative endeavor.
Nothing is new under the sun. Even the newest psytrance track is just recycled ideas and influences from artists going back into primal history. The internet is an amazing tool because it allows us to make these loom pattern connections so much quicker and easier. What before took a lifetime of research to uncover can be found in hours now. But most people think it's only good for gossip and porn and buying shit…

Absolutely! That's why I wanted to share this quote. I am a firm believer that nothing is created in a vacuum. Everything builds upon what has seemingly come before. What I do find amazing however, is when ideas seem to pop up simultaneously in unrelated locations.

The internet has most definitely made the world an even smaller place. I wonder sometimes what my kids generation will be like now that they have grown up with the internet. My daughter is almost always plugged in. As a parent, it has definitely posed unusual boundry/limit setting issues. My parents had is easy with only telling me to get off the phone.

not sure how old your daughter is, but one limit could be how long she is on the darn thing! We all need to “unplug” from time to time and sit in the grass (or snow) and skygaze…  😮

The dreaded teenage years. Not as easy to set limits when she doesn't care and is almost outta the house any way.

I am in full agreement with you on the unplugging. But I don't expect a teenager to find that out until she's older. She certainly won't believe it coming from me. Often one just has to learn on their own.

I just decided that my babel today would be my hatered for saturdays as of late.  I work all day on saturdays.  which after friday nights can always be a drag.  it's also wierd because I have wednesdays and sundays off.  so it's like I have two fridays and two mondays every week.  god my schedule is screwed up.  this might explain why I'm tired everytime I see you guys.  I dunno, I hate my job because it made me hate saturdays.

    favorite quote of the day:

” When one looks at the cosmos, the movements of the stars and planets, the laws of vibration and rhythm – all perfect and unchanging – it shows that the cosmic system is working by the law of music, the law of harmony. Whenever the harmony in the cosmic system is lacking in any way, then in proportion disasters come about in the world, and its influence is seen in many destructive forces which manifest in the world. If there is any principle upon which the whole of  astrological law is based – and the science of magic and mysticism behind it – it is music. “

So one of my New Year's resolutions was to be kinder and gentler to my neighbors.  Well I think I'm still the most hated person in my building.  I have actually been better than last year.  I do wear headphones half the time so they don't have to hear my music as much and I also haven't threatened to have anyone's kids taken away by DCFS this year!  So I'm making progress.

Sometimes though I just gotta play my music loud!  I am careful to keep the music between 10am and 10pm but this music just needs to be played loud.  It is a different experience vs. just headphones.  My archenemy is Sharon, the neighbor above me.  We have a history of dealings and our current war has been going on for a few months now.  The tide of war I think is turning to my side.  Her and her abusive boyfriend, “Ozzie”, have been quieting down as of late.  They started to retaliate by banging on the radiator and waking me up in the middle of the night.  So one night I qued up some Delta 9 on my puter max volume.  As soon as they started banging on the pipes I flipped the speaker switch and blasted them for a few moments.  They did it again an hour later and I just flipped the switch again.  They've given up on that tactic since.  She's just nasty too.  Swears like a sailor and brings home homeless guys to screw.  If they hit it good they get to come back a second time.  I can tell the current boyfriend hasn't been hitting it as good as some of the past ones so I don't know why he's still around.  I'm sure they think I'm nuts.  This all entertains me greatly for hours on end.  Who needs TV!

I do recommit though to trying to be kinder and gentler to my neighbors this year.  I'll tone the music down and no more calling the Fire Department!  ;D

up stares neighbors are fun.  i had a similar situation last year, and after the cops being here nightly and knowing me and my wife y name the police finally made the land lord do something about it.  but out of the 20 to 30 times the police where here i only called twice.  they would get to fighting  at 3am and id get woken up and hook my CD decks to my stereo and PC and crank both.  then id grab the most tweak and full on crunchy annoying track i could think of at the time and crank it.  though my wife and daughter didn't like that.  or i would crank my PC and quickly make a really annoying sound thru Orion Platinum and tweak on the knobs in the prog for a while.  hell one night i managed to make a police siren sound and freaked the shit out of all of them.  i have never seen so many black fly out of one house at one time.
