I spin jungle music, but now that the psytrance community has touched my soul, I'm starting to play psybreaks and tripstep.  So you might be seeing more of me in the future.

Awesome!  Good psybreaks and tripstep are pretty much nonexistent.  And by nonexistent, I mean I don't know what artists to listen to.  😉

Heard it, was semi impressed.  ..and a bit off the new Scorb album.  That's as far as my psybreaks knowledge goes…

I wasn't blown away by that album like a lot of people seemed to be. It was OK. I read so many posts where people were creaming themselves over it…

Hehe I was referring to the Scorb album, btw. Some of the posts over on Psynews.org made it sound like it was the most amazing album ever released. And I've got nothin for ya, my knowledge of psybreaks starts and ends with “Damon says he plays psybreaks”  😀

    I see.

Mood Deluxe is imho perfect combination of psy and nuschool heavy breaks (I love both). I don't think there's one single album out there that contains 100% great heavy psychedelic breaks. Usually there are only few tracks on each release (album or compilation) that sound good ….

I wouldn't say “a lot” but we are talking about personal preferences right now. His recent sets are closer to hip hop (people who try to push “new genre” techhop makes me laugh) than anything else imho. His productions …. yeah .. some of them have psychedelic elements for sure … but I wouldn't put him in the same bag with Psyfactor, Tripswitch, Gaudi etc ….

Actually, that album is one of the best  and most interesting psy albums I've come across to date.  Listen to it again.  It genre blends, goes dark and twisted but stays melodic, is very musical and diverse as far as the chord changes go, and contains some very memorable emotional moments.  Top notch production and a complete conceptual piece of art…as opposed to a cd full of psy tracks.  It's a great journey through psychedelia, IMO.

I was never into the psy scene. I guess I like the music more than the scene because the scene is filled with pricks like every other scene. So the music is good and it was 1996 and I was shown the light by a Houston, TX Loki_ dude on EFNet IRC about Juno Reactor and Astral Projection and from there…it was over! I began slowly buying records cause I had no money really then and so on…then in 2000 I started spending way too much for albums on sites when I should had just conformed to the new standards of the music….and then in 2007 I sold every last bit of my vinyl to damon and went to two totally awesome and rewarding parties, despite the first party having shitty music, the second party more than made up for it. I got in free to the first one anyways. So I won't complain! 🙂

And then there came a time when I had to pee…
