    For the skeptics:

    http://azureworld.blogspot.com/2010/02/nassim-haramein-fraud-or-sage-part-2.html
    http://azureworld.blogspot.com/2010/06/whats-so-misleading-about-nassim.html#s2

And a nice quote from the site linked above:

“Ask yourself honestly. Are the natures of astrophysical objects, or the mysteries of high energy collider physics, really something you believe you can encompass with your intuitive experience? Do you seriously believe that you're better off relying on an inner sense of resonance in your soul – even more than investigating the world of experiments, observations and the interpretations that follow from them – for deciding whose theory of black holes you should agree with, or what the nature of a proton is?

If the answer is yes, then that's quite some inflated view of yourself you've got there.

If not, then please lay off the “I don't understand any of the physics but I just know in my heart that what Nassim is saying is true” business. I've heard that far too many times already. If you think any of the facts that I'm giving are wrong, tell me why. (And tell me why the facts are wrong, not how you think you can read my motivations from thousands of miles away, please. The facts are there. If they're correct, deal with it. If they're wrong, explain it. They won't go away.)

There's nothing open-minded about hanging on to a theory that's WAY outside anyone's intuitive experience, just because you really like it or you really like the person who told you it or you felt a spiritual response to it. If you want to know about cosmology or particle physics, go and find out about them. If you think you can do better than the scientists out there working on them, go and do it.

If not, just let go, and accept that there are things you don't know.
And I'll happily accept what I don't know.
It's very good for the soul.” -Bob

Like I said, there is some life-changing information in this presentation, and neither Zensphere's nor Bob's opinions changes that fact (I wonder if Zensphere has even watched the presentation that he seems to already have dismissed). As with everything, view it with a skeptical-yet-open mind, and take what resonates with you while leaving what doesn't.

Very fascinating stuff, and I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to have a better understanding of how fractals fit into nature (beyond the golden ratio stuff) and other related topics.

I also recommend looking into some of the more technical details of some of Nassim's claims (he makes quite a few) if you have time: http://theresonanceproject.org/research.html

Ah cool, glad you liked it Abe!  I sincerely shared it with you figuring it was up your alley.

Yes the guy is a psuedo-physicist.  The one thing I liked about the talk I attended on this was the concept that we are living inside/on the other end of a black hole, and the BH in our uni also contain universe and so on.  Blew my mind, never thought of it that way.

The many things I didn't like about it was that the speaker extrapolated the theory as evidence of aliens and the pyramids and alien DNA in mankind, blah, blah, blah.  I was quite disappointed.  This theory and speakers for Resonance are now the new cause celebre for the Burning Man community.  Another example of that community taking a possible physics theory and making it into proof to support their fringe world views.

I did come across actual physicists who independently came to the same conclusion of uni-within-BH's.  I think I posted it here previously.  Very minor paper, haven't heard of any further work on this.  Exciting concept though!

Zensphere…where ya been man???  Seems like people are finally coming out of their winter hibernation.

I agree with much of what you said Pauldo. I did find his theorizing in the later half of the presentation to be less-scientific than the information he presented in the first half, but it was still very interesting and I thought it was quite bold of him to share his personal opinions regarding things like the pyramids and aliens in the later parts of the presentation.

I learned quite a bit throughout the entire presentation, including stuff from the less-scientific second half such as the flower-of-life images that appear to be 'laser burned' into some of the stones in Egypt and other places, and Carl Sagan's binary message to Orion's belt that received an answer in the form of a crop formation.

Fascinating stuff, but the first, more-scientific half of the presentation (stuff about sacred geometry, dimensions, double-torus strucuture, black “wholes”, and more), was definitely the part that excited me the most and was the reason I wanted to post this here.

Wuddup Pauldo! I've been lost in real life… might happen again from time to time. Good to check back in w/ the chillumi though.

@ Abe. Did you read the blog posts I linked to? There are some legitimate points made there (using science), including a critique of the significance of his 'best paper' certificate.

I am always open to considering new information Abe, but it helps if it comes form a credible source.

I've wasted too much time and energy already in my life on New Age wishful-thinking.

    Joseph,

I assure you that the presentation is not a waste of time. I found it to be extremely interesting and highly thought-provoking, both which are beneficial qualities of a presentation.

Even the simple notion of re-visualizing the way the planets of our solar system rotate relative to the sun's movement around our galaxy was useful for me, because I have always thought of it as a 2D plane of rotating planets. This simple animation and discussion of Nassim's was but one of the life-changing realizations I had during this presentation, because it helped me to visualize how every day is truly (astronomically) unique.

Of course I looked at the blogs, they raise good points but it does not matter much to me because I was not convinced by many of Nassim's claims since he does not go into enough detail on them. I must stress that I am not encouraging others to be convinced by this presentation; rather, I am encouraging others to watch it and consider the information he presents, not only because I found it highly enjoyable and interesting, but also because there are several common-sense portions of the lecture that I had never stopped to think about, such as the solar system example I linked to above. I considered the information he presented, and although I didn't walk away from the experience with any revamped understanding of physics or anything, I certainly did realize quite a bit of things that I had never thought about before, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

I can't help but lose respect for people who ignore information while still holding a strong opinion about it, because it is ignorance like this that has greatly contributed to our world's current state of religious ideology and corruption. I was once of a similar level of ignorance as you currently seem to be, Joseph, for when I first heard of the rumors that we were lied to about 9/11, I chose to blindly dismiss all information that supported that position due to the skepticism of myself and others, without ever looking into the event for myself. Thankfully for me, some friends continued to ask me to look into both sides of the story, so I did, and after researching the topic for months (and now years), I eventually realized how erroneous my ignorance had led me to be for so many years of my life.

I truly hope you someday choose to view and judge this presentation with your own intellect (if you can find the time), for you may very well find it to be quite interesting and entertaining, at the very least. It is even more bewildering that you claim to be “open to considering new information”, yet you have just done the exact opposite. Instead of considering the new information, you have prematurely dismissed it and have chosen to not consider it at all (or very little), yet you paradoxically have given strong consideration to the counter-opinion of a physics blogger. Does that mean you are being dishonest or hypocritical with your statement about being “open”? or maybe you are only 'open to considering certain types of new information'? You can figure that one out for yourself, but it is quite apparent that you are not “open to considering new information” based on how you have approached this new information. If you were truly open to considering new information, you would first consider the new information, and then seek counter-opinions to it. Instead, it appears that you have chosen to derive your opinion of Nassim's presentation primarily based on what a skeptic website says about the various claims of Nassim that they touch on, while completely ignoring all the other information that Nassim presents (such as the solar system example I linked to above).

The fact that you would rather go read counter-information about Nassim, and spread that information, without even becoming familiar with the very information that Nassim presents, has caused me to lose respect for you. It would be one thing to look at both sides of the story and to share your opinion after some well-rounded research, but to blindly dismiss every single point that Nassim makes, just because a physics blog disagrees with some of Nassim's claims, is your loss, and your sharing of that counter-information could lead other people to completely dismiss a potentially life-benefiting presentation without ever even taking the time to hear it with their own ears and judge it with their own intelligence. What has caused me to lose respect for you is that you have chosen to dismiss all of the information contained in Nassim's ~6 hour presentation, a presentation that contains thousands of pieces of data (some of which may likely benefit you and others), just because a physics blogger doesn't agree with some of Nassim's claims. You seem to have prematurely labeled the entirety of Nassim's presentation as “New Age wishful-thinking” despite the fact that you have never even watched the presentation, which strongly contradicts your claim that you are “open to considering new information”.

I understand you are most likely busy, as am I, but to see you, someone I once held in high regard, applying such biased judgement and stereotyping logic to information you have never even once viewed and analyzed with your own intellect, has honestly caused me to lose some respect for you. I am sure the feeling is mutual, Joseph, but I do hope that you appreciate me sharing my honest feelings with you, and I also hope that you someday become aware of the ignorance you are applying to new information such as this.

    Sincerely,

    -Abe

The more things change, the more they stay the same…

A few points I'd like to make:

Just because you found this presentation to be “extremely interesting and highly thought-provoking” does not mean that I would. Your 'waste of time' does not equal mine.

Glad you got something out of the revisualization. Of course the reality is far more complex than that as you continue to expand your frame of reference. Everything is moving. Not a life-changer for me.

I posted the blog links to merely offer another perspective on this information, one grounded in rational thought and solid science. If that bothers you, then I find that telling.

I wouldn't say that I “hold a strong opinion” about this information. A lack of interest does not belie a strong opinion. I'm sure it's entertaining, if that's your kind of thing, and I look on this type of stuff as primarily being entertainment (what I've watched of this so far). But if it's not falsifiable, it's not science. And to be fair, you never said it was…

Sorry to hear you've lost respect for me over something like this, but to be honest, Abe, your respect doesn't mean that much to me anymore. It might have at one time, but you burned your credibility w/ me a long time ago… nothing personal though. 🙁

Anyways, be well, brother. Hope we can stomp it out again sometime.

your honesty is appreciated, and thanks for responding to my heartfelt words. I understand that I could have let my concern with your bias and ignorance fade into the past, but this is the new me, and the new me stands up for what I believe, such as my belief that the world would be a better place if people formed opinions about information for themselves rather than just siding with others.

I must clarify one small thing though: I was not bothered that you posted links here, nor by the content at the links you posted (in fact, I found them to be somewhat informative); rather, I was bothered by the way you stereotyped, labeled, and judged the information contained in this presentation without even viewing it and assessing it with your own intelligence. This is not thinking for yourself / assessing information for yourself; rather, it is forming an opinion about information you have never viewed based on others' opinion of the information.

I think it is very important that individuals try to form their own opinions of information the best that they can, but nowadays it is all too common to see people just jumping on bandwagons, similar to how you labeled the information you had not viewed as “New Age” and a “waste of time”, and also similar to what Pauldo was explaining, that many of the people at Burningman have jumped on the bandwagon which swears that Nassim's presentation is some form of absolute truth. Both examples of opinion-forming have the strong potential to be inaccurate and possibly even harmful, which is why I wanted to point out your bias and ignorance that you were demonstrating here.

You did not merely express a lack of interest nor did you remain neutral; rather, you expressed that you had taken a side by concluding that the content in the presentation [you had not even viewed] was material that you wouldn't be viewing because you had “wasted enough of your time on New Age information” (or something close to that). You did not express anything that indicated to me that you were remaining neutral, nor did you express anything that suggested that you may someday look into the topic more before forming an even stronger opinion, nor did you express anything that indicated to me that the actual topics discussed in the presentation were topics that do not interest you (evidence-based theories that attempt to bridge the gap between classical physics and quantum physics sound right up your alley based on what I have seen you post in the past). The opinion you demonstrated did not appear to be neutral to me, nor did it appear to be due to a “lack of interest”, despite your claims that it was. Contrastingly, your responses indicated to me that you were prematurely deciding what something is and how valuable that something is, without even viewing that something.

I truly do appreciate your response, and I hope that my explanation helps to clarify my previous statements.

Thanks for reading/listening and for responding,

    -Abe

To clarify against your assumptions, I did view a portion of the videos before making my initial post in this thread. My assessment of them as “New Age metaphysics” was perhaps a bit flip, but we all make judgements about the kinds of information that we are exposed to. It's called discrimination, and I feel it's a valuable trait to cultivate. I'm not willing to invest 6 hours of my life to view the entirety of a presentation before investigating it's potential criticisms. If you have that kind of time, then more power to you.

Perhaps there is some valuable information to be gleaned from the videos, but if I have to sit through hours of this guy's hyperbole to get to it, meh, it's not worth it to me. Not sure why that (seemingly) bugs you.

So yeah, I'm writing this guy off, but not without reason. Judge me as you will.

I'm done with this thread, and done responding to your assumptions and ad hominems.

I skimmed over some of this. Has any of it been verified with experiment? Seems a bit fringe… and strangely familiar. Actually, I recall this being a major subject of presentations at some west coast festivals last summer. I missed all that… not that I am qualified to assess any of this stuff anyway.

Def not evidence based, def fringe, makes for great imagination material.  Read about one other paper from actual astrophysicists that supports a uni with in a BH theory.

Def great to have the lulz back on the Chillulzminati forum!
