I have to get this out of the way before i bring on the onslaught of goodness that this party was for me.

*If there is any chance of having the main stage out doors for future 3-day events, even for just Saturday night, PLEASE consider it. i think many more people would have jumped into the dance floor if there were stars overhead.

With that said….

Deco: This was the BEST event i have ever been to. Things just keep on getting better and better in my opinion. Thank you Derrik and Carli for throwing down PROFESSIONAL-GRADE deco on that chill stage. at times, it became the main stage. and in truth, its beauty made it one of the most awe-inspiring pieces at this event. Definitely provided sacredness for a chill area. WAY TO GO!
Also thanks to Justin for helping out with tapestries and the visual screen, this guy does not just do sound! 😉

Music: What can i say? The midwest has some great DJs! Every set i heard was extremely solid. Very high quality mixing, and great track selection from everyone. Even Dakota, AKA Vigilante, who performed for his first public appearance this weekend, came through with a solid set with great rhythm and energy.  As for the headliners, The Ooze really kicked off Friday night, as i made it to the stage rather late, but just in time to get brewin' with the best duo in the midwest! Was great to start me off before getting into the deeper portion of the night.  Dragon was a treat! This man was like a gangsta psy-warrior behind the decks. The way he bobbed his head in a cocky manner, and flicked his wrists as if DJing hip-hop music, provided me with a new spectacle of dark insanity! The beats were relentless, the builds were THROBBING, and seeing the big grin on his face as he witnessed the dance floor erupt was a mega treat over the course of this weekend! Talkin to him was even more exciting, discovering that he is greatly influenced by Penta, whos one of the USA greats IMO. Very humble guy with a very cool attitude, and unique style of night time psy. Very good!

The Psyowa Invasion tore it up! And i can say this, because i am not reviewing myself, only the other 3 boys that were throwin' down 😉 You guys did AWESOME! We didnt get to rehearse, but we all came prepared, and it was just amazing to see how we flowed into one another, picking the right tracks to transition as smoothly as possible! We covered a large spectrum of music, from morning full on Psytrance, to deep, dark, night time Psy.  Special Thanks to Scott, Igor, and Tyler, for letting us play this year. It means a lot to me that you guys hooked it up with such a great spot. We grew inspiration and motivation to do our own events by attending yours. Everything we have done in the land of Psyowa has been greatly influenced by you guys. It was awesome to fuse our crews and not only help with deco, but share in the music which the 4 of us are so passionate about. Thank you again for allowing us to energize the crowd early Saturday evening, to get the mass ready for MUBALI's BEATDOWN MADNESS!

Mubali is the man, this is known. Mubali is a changing man, which is not as well known. Those of us who have tracked Mubali's progress over the past few years, we have been able to totally see an evolution in his sound, fusing with great producers from Russia and other parts of the world to create an even more unique, rich, and stimulating night time sound. This man punishes with his energy, his attitude, and his unique beats. Riding this mans basslines was nothing short of madness. If you were there, you know. BOOM.

Mist was also a treat, as his experience behind the decks becomes obvious once he starts playing. Great tricks on the mixer, keepin the crowd goin with technical skills and enthusiasm. Great set!

Weather
Thank you, great Universe, for providing us with such fantastic, unbelievably fair weather on this past weekend.

Workshops
I watched the poi workshop which i believe was hosted by Carli from a distance for quite sometime. It was so awesome to see so many people picking them up and giving them a whirl! Really was pretty to see all the different colored people and poi flags flying around. Good vibes! As for the workshop which KO and myself hosted, it was great times as well. Great discussion was provoked, many people contributed, and even discussed amongst one another! Even after the workshop had finished, i heard people in small groups which had spawned off near the workshop area still discussing the contents of the workshop and elaborating on topics. It was awesome to see people carrying the information beyond the 'lecture', and onto the dance floor. I was truly touched when a few individuals told me, in the middle of the night, that the workshop totally gave them a direction to focus their dancing and their Saturday evening. It said it opened up their mind and gave them a truly deep dance floor experience, which was a great to hear. Good times, and cant wait to help more in the future!

To every staff member involved in security, owning the property, cooking the breakfast, checking the sound, dealing with crazy DJs that confuse stages, to taking over time slots when people cant play, Thank you.

whew! what an amazing experience SEOA was for me.

this was my first campout. first off, i have to thank machi & max for putting up with my newbie antics (i.e. being clueless of proper camping etiquette)… you were both very helpful, hopefully in time i'll learn the “ropes”.  🙂

wow, this party definitely showed me what the hype for chilluminati parties was all about – very well executed, great music, AMAZING crowd, beautiful venue… it pretty much could not have been better.

music: i regret partying too hard the first night – i fell asleep saturday during one of the sets i'd been waiting all weekend for (the great mundane). what i did get to see, though, was groovy in the best way – ooze, dragon, the MOP crew, & mubali (though i didn't see enough of him) were the ones that stuck out on the trance stage. on the chill stage, damon & abrahm really shone. unfortunately, i missed alot of the sets i was looking forward to on both stages -machi, psychohazzard, mist, energon, aligning minds, & more- by sleeping! (DOH!) won't make the same mistake again.

deco: WOW! the deco really made the chill stage experience for me at this party. i don't think enough praise can be piled onto the entire deco crew…. AMAZING, totally set the mood, especially derek & carli's “sunrise” set up, all of the tapestries, & the painted mannequin. on the trance stage, all the VJing was wonderful, & of course the trusty MOP tapestries in full effect.

venue: again, perfect… very tall, limber trees, tranquil lake, lots of great places to set up tents, & no hassles!

great to be able to share this weekend with all of you – as i said, it's been a learning experience for me. can't wait to do it again, july 4-6 in iowa! :]

It wasn't our choice, Abe.  Not having trance-dance music on the outside stage was a restriction from the venue and not from us.  🙂

Ok, things have finally calmed down enough here at the office for me to pen a review.  Amazing how little will get taken care of here while I'm gone.  hahahah

First things first, I need to send warm warm thank yous to Scott and Tyler for having me out to perform.  After playing the first Sacred Earth, it was an absolute delight to return for it's second incarnation.  Chilluminati is always a pleasure to work with, and any time you guys want to have this guy from Texas up, I will be there.  Also, thank you Scott for providing me a place to crash (and get crashed into by flying luggage. hahah)

I also need to say thank you to Hardkornate and Annie for hauling my butt around the frozen north, getting me where I needed to be when I needed to be there, and just being generally nice people!  This trip wouldn't have been the same without you guys. 

Thank you to each and every one of you who danced to my set, and for all of your kind comments.  You definately put a big smile on my face, and a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart.  Thank you for sharing your energy with me. 

It was so nice to hang out and meet so many new people.  The northern scene is one of the best in the US, in my opinion, with a vibe and open friendliness that just can't be beat!  Great, as well, to see so many familiar faces that I've been missing.  I cherish the time that I get to spend with you, my friends, and I look forward to the day when our paths cross once more!

It was great to see the improvements made to the venue since I've been there last, and to once again have a cold pint of the local brewed chocolate stout.  MMMMMMMM.

Musically, I have to say everything was tops.  Sets I most enjoyed were Primoridal Ooze (come to Texas soon please, I need another dose!), the “chill” set by Psygomin and Gru-V, Damon's “downtempo” set, the fricking energy-filled rightiousness of the Iowa tag!, and, of course, that master of disater Rev. Mubali!  My one big regret of the weekend was falling asleep and missing Dragon, as I really wanted to catch him, and heard nothing but good things about his set… 

Can't wait to come up and do it all again!
