thanks buddy XD I kept having to retry the track, because after 5 minutes of the recording on my laptop would get all distorted, after 10 or so takes of the track i got it down to a science.

With that Mackie ProFX? Mine will record tons without issues, but it does get goofy if you don't have the usb thru on. Doesn't look like you did a lot of stuff via the computer anyhow though.

I was going to ask you why you don't use pedals or anything to trigger scenes on your drum machine as well? I run window and am still working out the conky midi issue, but I have seen folks use midi triggers of various sorts to perform this kind of stuff. Keeps your hands open for tweaking.

thats a good idea, im not that far in my equipment “know how” yet. I am getting pretty good at keeping the flow with just my hands though. I only use my computer for recording, and it was logic pro that was messing it  up, but I fixed it 😀 I use midi to sync them all together (mc808 master) and the 101 is being controlled by the cv/gate of the x0xb0x, cv and gate is way cooler than midi in my opinion 😀 maybe its just because I like things simple.

Your going the exact opposite direction than I am lol! Probably why I am running into more technical difficulty problems than you are as well. PC + Midi = Migraine Most of the time. It's a toss up though, less hardware is less of a backache and less real estate you need on stage, at least things are starting to get towards the point where its not such a huge gap between the quality you can get from either.

From what I have ready though, the cv/gate method will allow you to perform some pretty unique things with pedals, might be worth a look into later on this year.

will do ! I started on software, but after 4 or 5 years, I decided I needed the music more at my fingertips, then software could provide, even with usb controllers, still a lot of programming. It is a pain in the ass not only to drag my equipment places, but finding any place fit for my equipment. Most the parties in duluth are in basements with a bunch of drunk highschoolers, with drinks : / and any bigger shows, the djs take all the spots. O well, someday people will get sick of those jesus armed losers who can't even beatmatch most the time 😛 and book some real musicians.

I like the simplicity of my current set up, though I do want to add another couple controllers so I can more swiftly control more of my instrument racks and get a couple more people involved in the creation process. I don't play a traditional instrument like you either, everything I know is by ear and luck. 😀

I currently just run one hardware unit, a Virus C, when I can get my midi ports to not glitch out sending it notes. Mostly I just play some notes direct to it and record it back into the tracker from there, which sucks because I lose a lot of the power of the synth during playback because I only have one free hand for twisting knobs. The rest that I use is just various controllers that cycle as I either get a feel for them or replace them.

I wish I could help you, I have the same problem with my mac if I work on mc808 patches, there are 2 of the same sounds playing, but one of them is a little delayed, which makes everything sound different. I often fantasize about destroying massive amounts of computers in one, rage filled, venting session.

I am not sure what my issue really is. The Virus goes all wanky for a few bars if I try to run midi through my keyboard to it. Which is silly because if I arm it to run with the keyboard and not rendered note it works fine. I would like to record my patterns, give them a quantize, and then go back and fiddle with the sound as I record it down. I have tried everything from master resets to latency and channel changes, so far nothing seems to do the trick.

Yours sounds like a latency issue, might be able to tune that in. Are you running a drum rack + the 808 or just the 808? Another thought that touches my brain off hand is that you might be running midi through to the x0b0x0x and it is trying to receive the messages on the same channel. You should be able to set up the triggers with different latencies for the different channels if your cabling or hardware is adding a little bit.

meh, that is beyond and above what im going to do. I can get some pretty good sounds just editing with the box itself, then I don't even have to touch my computer, except to hit record 😀
