I'm not the religious type but I think this guy is a fucking demon.

All I could keep thinking of watching this is how much he resembles a snake. To give a bit of background I guess he said there was some ufo about to show up (which obviously never did) and lead people into a higher dimension. I don't care enough to look into it any further than that. When this guy talks I feel my defenses going up and all I can see is the snake.

just had to get that off my chest, carry on.

people need to be lied to. instead of demonizing the man who exploits them, why not ask why a fully realized person would tolerate a sycophant whispering in their ear?

the desire to power is at least natural. the desire to be deceived and enslaved.. that's something else.

    mmmmmmmm!

i want to become religious leader one day…seems like a good carrier path these days…I am sick of spending 9 hr every day at the same place with the same people doing the same things over and over…as soon as I come up with my trademark, something like …..”mmmmm” or “god's jacket” i will begin my new profession….

I don't think that people necessarily have a desire to be deceived, but sometimes when you are desperate and are looking for a way out or an easier way it is easy to be mislead.  i am trying to find a quote in a movie that touches on this… will edit when i find it

I tend to think that people generally just believe whatever they want to believe – evidence be damned.

I think that some people want to think that they are special or have some special spiritual knowledge, some just want to feel a sense of belonging to something bigger. A lot of new age thought and esoteric philosophy feeds the ego, so it has traction for some who desire that. I doubt if many intentionally desire to be deceived, but I'm sure that lots don't really mind if they are being deceived – as long as other needs are being met.

Don't forget that cult leaders get to have multiple babes.  All the free love that The Nod can handle.  I'll be your enforcer, every cult needs an enforcer too.  Praise be the great Nod!
