My name is Josh I'm currently living in Duluth, Minnesota going to the U of M up here and not very long ago I was introduced to psytrance and I was completely blown away. Now I have some mediocre equipment I just keep in my dorms and (2 channels, mixer, 1000watt receiver) and i've been playing the trance for people on my floor in the dorms, I also played on open mic event through my school and getting my friends into it. Earthdance 07 was my first outdoor event and the experience far surpassed anything I could have imagined so now i'm trying to get together some sort of event in Minnesota to share the experience with everyone, people all for it, and  people a little more hesitant. The only thing i'm able to assemble together myself is a numark FUSION 494 mixing package (i'm not sure how good it actually is considering i'm very new to all of this as seen here http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/product/Numark-FUSION-494-DJ-CD-Package-?full_sku=806139) and in a short time i'll have a fair amount of money to put down for an event, but that's really about it. If anyone can provide any help at all I would REALLY appreciate it, or if not help, point me in the right direction to get something set up. Thanks.

Congrats on catching the psybug!  One of your biggest challenges is going to be finding a venue to throw an event at.  Somewhere you can blast loud music until early into the morning.  Farmhouse, old factories, anything away from sleeping people.  Iowa crew next weekend is doing an event at a bar near campus and then an aftie a few blocks away.

There's def psy people and events in the Minny area.  Post up here for any DJ's that may want to come up for the event to play.  There's lot's of good talent here in the midwest.  Keep active on this forum and keep posting up any questions you have here.

Number 1 though is finding that venue.  Since you're local you'll have to make that happen.  I think there was talk on this forum about a Duluth Hallo party?  Go to that and check it out.  Ask the promoters about the venue, see if it's a possibility for your event.

For $600 you should be able to get used 2xPioneer CDJ100 + decent mixer …

And definately come to Halloween party to meet other psyfreaks from your area  😉
