yeah, no worries at all, i just dont want anyone to be offended that we dont book them for those timeslots for our mainstage… we just dont have the room for it because of the onslaught that we always bring, and I feel that people should actually be happy about the fact that we bring so many good acts instead of getting all ego-hurt about it.  everyone deserves a key timeslot, i think there just needs to be more parties thrown by other crews, thats all.

Definitely agree with you there, the point that I respect and I think we all respect you guy's for is that you throw consistently great parties at least once a month (with a break here or there).  You have access to great venues and have a consistent showing in Iowa, whereas if the gnomes were to throw a party in Madison, there would not be as good of a turnout from the locals as there is a aversion to anything “trance” related, blame it on Tiesto if you want but it is the sad fact the the Gnomes cannot throw a party on the same scale as you guy's withing the city limits of Madison.  The RAVE act hit everyone hard here as there is no possible way to throw an all nighter in madison due to an overly protective Nanny state that exists here.  As a matter of fact there has been one, count it, ONE all night party in Madison in recent memory that was busted if my memory serves correct.  The mindset that exists with the crews here that throw club nights and such is that if it Isn't breaks, house or DnB, they will not book you.  Sad but true.  Those crews are content to have the club open to 2 A.M. then throw everyone out, I am not. My point is is that we need to all work together to continue our movement, without each other what are we but splinter cells revolting against conformity, tradition, and the closed minds that exist in far too many places.

Why would it have to be in Madison? Throw one in some bumfuck township in between Minneapolis, Iowa, and Madison. Minneapolis is sending Iowa 50 people every time now…

If you haven't noticed – no matter where the party is, the core group of 150 people is the same.

@psilopsyben – Chill / Downtempo stage is meant for just that. We do not want psy played on that stage, and therefore, we have not booked any Psy-only djs for this stage.

I don't know where you've been the last few years, but I AM a psy only dj.  In fact, I don't think I'm really psy, I try to push dark to the extreme everytime I play.  It's almost techno/hardcore if you really think about it.

Ben, I look forward to hearing some pretty dark psy glitch breaks. Ive only gotten to hear you ever play the darkest of dark psy, so it will be a good change to hear your glitchy side. I am expsyted to hear you play!!!

I dont think it's a bad thing to play on the chill/prog stage, it's a wonderful oppourtunity to take people on a journey to the depths of their soul.

    Ando

    Amen brother!

This is why you guys are playing. because you are wise Ando, wise beyond our years!

We can do psybreaks or prog whatever, but my specialty as evidenced by all but one or two of my mixes on audiognomes.com is the real down and dirty dark stuff, darker than anything I've heard at a Mindoutpsyde party (Arahat got real close from what I've heard). Andy, lets just say he takes a shine to fullon that drifts to the darker side. We'd really just like to come down and tear it up on the psy stage sometime and return the favor that you, Hurt and Aktif did for us on NYE. I'm not saying we wont come out and enjoy ourselves, but having the Gnomes of Destruction come and play progressive/psybreaks is like having Doormouse come out and having him play Happy Hardcore. It'd be a hell of a set (and probably hillarious), but you won't see the artist perform their best with their full attention.
As I said, we're gonna come out and play and play our best, have some fun and all, but honestly it's not our main style of music.

please enjoy your timeslot.  youre right, all you can do is the dark dark dark stuff, and nothing else.  if we were to put you on at 9, itd be the same set you would play at 2am.  we firmly believe in a flow, and djs that can accomodate to that progression.  if you havent noticed, our parties have headliners.. we fly people in from all over and lose our asses almost every time.  we fill the mainstage timeslots with the headlining acts we fly in, usually live pa's.  when there is space, we place ourselves there because we put so much work, time, and money into it.  we dont have space for midwest acts at peak times, because of how we book our parties.  dont be offended by it.  itd also be nice to actually see you at an event you werent playing at for once.  thats how this scene works.  energy = playtime.

so what do you and andy want to play?  chill or breaks?  keep me posted.

Pysowa is the only place in the Midwest that has consistently pushed the boundaries of sound that has been played. From Mubali to Wichdokta to Ocelot to Bodhisattva..the quality and variety of sound along with the vibe that has been presented is what keeps me coming back..

This crew has done something rare in getting people from all over the US and not just the midwest and thats exactly whats Pros do..I cant even say that they do mainly Dark trance anymore which used to be my major crib with them..lol..They are now putting Chill on a new level with Androcell being booked..I so wanted to come see Androcell and EgBot but work has left me with little time and I have been kicking myself for not being able to come to the last one..

To the Psyowa crew..you guys are going a great job in these gatherings and your vision is well directed..Keep bringing quality headliners and artists with multiple dimensions of music.. thats what keeps the minds guessing in every gathering..What am I in for this time??:)!!
The next step for Psyowa is to throw a festival with the same vision that makes it special..and I am sure that will come soon..

The problem with psychedelic trance is it stops being psychedelic if you listen to the same stuff too many times..keep it fresh and varied..My 2 cents..

wow this thread really skewed off into a direction I never expected. I saw 9 pages of replies and got excited — thinking wow this party must really be shaping up. After reading it all I think that everyone should lighten up a bit. this is very close to the type of threads on typical raver message boards. :-O

Im not saying that everyone shouldn't have an opinion, but it doesn't have to be so childish. I propose that authors of irrelevant replies delete them.

    +1
This was the reason I didn't go to more of the MOP events in the past. The first time I made the trek to Iowa I had a “not-so-good” dark trance experience @ Blacklight Forest. It was like 6-7 solid hrs of dark in my brain (Collision/Aktif -> Ooze -> Ocelot)… Carli got sick and we ended up leaving early. I didn't really get over that until I heard Facehead play @ SF3, Burning Man helped too.  😀

I love the direction you guys are heading right now and none of the people who came with me would have made it out for Tribe Connection if it weren't for Androcell. Plus, I'm developing a healthy obsession with morning style stuff and I always find it and these events.  ;D

It's all about the right balance, like with everything else I guess. Too much dark is as bad as too much fluff and cheese. Most of us are dj's here and should really grasp that concept by now that djing is all about similarities and contrasts.

I think Chris, Abe and Nick do incredible job throwing those parties. There is a reason they succeed every time as they put a lot of energy and money behind it to make it happen. They also seem to learn a lot from each experience as like you all noticed those gatherings only get better and better every time. It's pretty much understandable they also would like to play good time slots at those parties since they all put so much effort into it. No one should have the problem with it especially they all are excellent dj's themselves.

The ego factor of psytrance dj's playing at the chill stage: I share your pain cuz I am not a chillout dj myself and at the begining I was confussed myself about it until Chris told me I could play whatever I would like. That was it  ;D. Although I think I opened up a little too much at the last party I couldn't help to notice a lot of people were enjoying stuff I was spinning. The new approach to chillroom also sounds great and it is a very good idea to place all those proggy dj's and such at the begining of the night and slowly transit into more ambient stuff while maintaing high energy level on the main floor throughout the whole night. The only problem with chill out stage I have right now is that I hate those freaky Statons  ;D as I am a spoiled pioneer junkie (and I never get to spin on them anywhere else to get used to them).
I just can't express enough how happy and jelous at the same time I am for you guys having such a good group of people down in Iowa. Almost to the point I would consider moving out there just to be part of it.
I wish I had more like-minded people over here to start something right away but I really hope that within a year from now or even less I will see you all supporting the very first in the history psytrance party in Milwaukee. This is how much inspired I am by MOP.
Enough been said already I think and everyone should be happy and a little more appreciative now.

Dude, that shit whatever you played was NEAT. I actually managed to stay in the chill stage for more then 15 minutes to your music. Come to think of it, Tribe Connection was the first party where I actually managed to stay for like an hour in the chill stage. 15 minutes for Abe, 15 for Matchi and 30 for Androcell…..

Think I am getting old 🙂

yeah Machi, I noticed the same thing with your set!  people looked like they needed it, and so many prog lovers feel that its not fair that prog is always way early or way late, so here is their chance to rock it at peak times.  and as for chilling at the beginning of the night, there is always the concession area or the part of the atrium near the door, although I feel prog is very chill friendly as is.  Personally, I think this is going to work out just fine this time, and maybe even open the doorway for future installations 🙂  and Machi, you should move here!  you can be Mindoutpsyde's resident prog dj!  hehe we'd welcome you and Alex with open arms, even offer you a place to stay while you got yourself situated 🙂

to Ben – I didnt mean to make my comment sound harsh… and im sure nick didnt either.  I just felt it may have been approached in a not so good way in combination to  a misunderstanding on how we do things.  no hard feelings as all, as i by no means meant to come off as a punk.  I love your style and think you are an amazing dj, as well as many others.  I hope this clears things up 🙂

Venue has been completely confirmed today!  full details by tonight.  I absolutely cannot wait for this!!!!  this will be the best party ever!!!
