BOMBAY BEATBOX BIO:
(3rd Wed of each month) Chicago’s Bombay Beatbox monthly event focuses on the best in futuristic world groove and electronia. Incorporating Indian, Arabic, African, and world music with electronica elements that cross continents and span genres. Resident DJs Warp and Radiohiro have shared the stage with some of the most respected names in world music, from Tabla Beat Science, Femi Kuti, Bebel Gilberto, Baaba Maal, Khaled, MIDIval PundtiZ, Cheb I Sabbah, and many more.
It has no zip code, no home base. It is a tribe, a group of nomads who wander to be inspired, and to inspire in return. From raag-infused breakbeats and global electronica, to beat-laden rock and hip-hop, Kollektiv ignites dancefloors everywhere it lands. Kollektiv was first incarnated as a weekly party at the original Kush lounge in NYC’s Lower East Side. The brainchild of world-renowned producer/DJ Karsh Kale, the original Kollektiv translated the ideas and musical inspirations gathered from Karsh's world travels into an underground rhythm. With groundbreaking DJ sets by Kale and guests, a tight community vibe pulsing in earnest, the party easily became habit-forming. It became a forum for Kollektiv-heads to exchange ideas with like-minded people. Creative energy was constantly renewed by a rotating cast of local and international guest artists who came to play.
That Kollektiv energy has since spread beyond its birthplace. From the madness of New York City, to San Diego, D.C., San Francisco, and now Chicago. Kollektiv lands on the grid of any city that is willing to contribute its culture. No two sessions are the same: each is a journey flavored by season, city, and the passions of those present.
On my way …. ;D
Another freak who kept dropping heavy d`n`b/breakz choons last night. Knocked me down with Shpongle's tracks from last album …. good times ;D ;D
