So, who else saw it? For those who haven't- go see it.

I don't go see a lot of movies, but this was definitely worth it. Quite original and deep. Don't remember the last time I got a good mental massage seeing a hollywood movie. Definitely have to pay attention to follow what's going on. The ending was for the win.

Just got back.  Yeah, you definitely do need to pay close attention.  Shouldn't have drank so much beforehand probably.  It was awesome though.  Don't quite know entirely what happened, so I think I'll go see it again.  I'm just…wow.  The ending WAS for the win.

Ending was horribly predictable.  Like REALLY?!?!? Didn't see that one coming.  How else would it of ended?  Oh yeah?!  An INTERESTING WAY.  Remember using the clipping code in Doom and getting stuck in the walls?  Maybe something like THAT would've been better?

Rest of movie was way to confusing.  Not cool.  I think all of you already have experienced what this movie is trying to get you to consider, so you are like, yeah…..so?

Wanna know what the best part for me was?  Going to the movies with Max and Kevin.  That was HARD winning right thurr…  Seeing IMAX for first time with someone named Max is bonus points…

I see a TON more potential with a movie like this.

Like dreaming/dreams touch a very frightening psychological perspective.  Infinity/isolation.  Which they KINDA touched on, but def not to a level that they should of.

    meh, had a blast anyways

I don't think it lives up to the hype. All the while I kept thinking it was really gonna get unhinged and surreal, but what we get is just a much of crumbling buildings… Story was okay, if not confusing. Visuals were pretty weak. Apparently the subconscious is either the ocean or the arctic? How about some crazy off-the-wall Dr. Seuss stuff? Anyways, it kept me entertained, but it would be just as good to wait and see at home than spend big money at the theater.

100% agree the expectation was very high and bottom line its just ok move that you can watch at home!

Nick and I talked about this a bit. I think it was good that the dream stuff didn't go crazy on the visuals. The main point of the movie is to get you to start challenging what you think is reality rather than to over embellish the strangeness of dreaming. The whole reason I think the movie is good is that it didn't have that hollywood glaze over that tries to bury a crappy story with CG (like avatar). Crazy visuals wouldn't have made any sense because they were always trying to overshadow the fact that they were in a dream by keeping the environments the dreamers were in as stable as they could (like how they tell the chemist to drive the van carefully before they dream in there). When you think about what happened in their version of the real world and how that was conveyed in their dreams (getting hit in the face with water in the van = raining outside the hotel), it was pretty accurate to what actually happens.

This movie should really only be hyped up to people who don't already think in the way that this movie urges you to :). Most of us have a step up in this line of thinking (challenging reality).

aka- don't expect it to be a high dose, only about a dozen mics worth of thought- if ya na mean

I really liked it. One of the best intelligent action movies i've seen.

Yes, it's a smart action film. I enjoyed it. The downside: I found the portrayal of the dream worlds far too linear and logical to feel in any way realistic. (Strange to think of “realistic dreams” but I'm sure you follow.) And, much like The Fountain, I wasn't able to connect to any of the characters on an emotional level. I just did not care what happened to them. That's Hollywood for ya… highly polished movies about dreams that look like highly polished movies.

I think you noticed the dream linearity because each dream was designed for a specific person to have that the architect came up with to be logically mazes.

If the dreams had been out of control, they wouldn't have been able to do their jobs.
