what makes the psy scene different from the hip-hop scene?
once you cut through the commercial bullshit, you actually find something of substance & meaning instead of a bunch of kids getting fucked up and playing with things that make weird noises?
listen to black star, deep puddle dynamics, most anything from the project blowed crew, the roots, hell even go back to 'the message' or listen to some of what immortal technique has to say and you can hear that hip-hop is all about reflecting on the world around you and trying to promote a chance in it in a much more active way than the psytrance scene has ever done. i've heard numerous hip-hop emcees talking about their children (or children in general) and how much love they get, i've even heard tracks featuring their children (chali tuna's son is on one of the tracks on the last good album j5 put out) but the only thing close to that you're likely to get in psytrance is a sample of that kid all huffed out on nitrous after a visit to the dentist's office.
so cool, rapers talk about kids now, Eminem is siging about his daughter 🙂
