im sure itd be appreciated by us all and if a psyhippy ever turns bad, he knows the first place/person to approach

the polish guys will be dealt with by every psy head in the future cuz we all know who they are.  if they come to our events we wont let them in unless they pay 5x the amount and at the first time they try and sexually harrass someone they will be turned over to the police immediately.  no one has to worry about scum like that at future events.

other than that, people, it was an amazing time… quite being so pessimistic

So I got there late on Friday night around 10ish in the dark.  I missed a couple turns getting to the place so I had to double back a few times to find the correct road.  I eventually found the place.  When I rolled up I offered a bag of Doritos to Tyler and he didn't accept my offer thus ruining my joke.  The bag was empty and I was going to laugh and laugh and laugh when he stuck his hand into the empty bag.  But he didn't!  Got checked in, found my people and hung out for awhile.  It was frickin' cold.  So glad this dude shared his campfire with us.  At one point I couldn't even keep warm just by dancing.  Sat in a chair by the fire until the sun came up.  Got stung by a bee.  Luckily I carry Benadryl with me.  It made me slow and grumpy.  Got sun burn.  Caught a cold.  Left on Saturday.  Glad I missed the thieving and harassing fun.  It would have made me sad to see that.

I arrived excitedly around 10pmish and happened to roll in right behind my friends Julie n' Rob.  During check-in I tried to play a trick on my friend Tyler but he didn't fall for it so now he probably just thinks I'm a real cool dude for offering to share my Doritos with him.  Caught up to Julie n' Rob and got the first of many good hugs I would get over the weekend.  Hunted for a campsite for awhile.  Thanks to Dan Effex for sharing his fire and company with me.  Went around meeting friends.  I was a friend meeting machine!!!  Got some good dancing in at the main/chill stage on Fri night.  Got some good laughs hanging with my friend Abe.  Chilled at the fire for awhile.  Convinced all of my campmates that we should go up to the main stage and do some dancing.  It was pretty cold and I was quickly the first one back to the fire.  Found my spirituality up in the night sky.  What else do you need?  I loved the warmth of the sun.  Got more hugs from friends now that I could see them in the light.  Hung out with the margarita crew.  Got stung by a bee.  Luckily, Zac did not have to perform a tracheotomy on my closing throat.  I made horns.  Thank you to Sahil for the gift pouch.  Can't wait to see the drawing my friend Alison is making for me.  Me missed seeing Shai.  I had to leave on Sat for an important family function.  I'm glad to see that we have a wonderful psy-family that looks out for each other.

Thank you Thank you I had suuuuch an amazing weekend! I don't think I really fully understood the term “get down” before this party. By Sunday morning I felt so close to the earth, i couldn't stop kickin up dust and doin cartwheels. Stellar people, awesome music, beautiful speakers, fantastic DJs, ridiculous swirling spider web stars, and a freaking trampoline. I feel so out of place back at school with people who sleep when it is dark out and study whilst drinking cafe americanos and listen to top40 shit now, but i also feel totally refreshed. My legs feel strong and my lips feel sunburned and that's just about exactly right 😉

i am not shallow enough of a person, nor unintelligent enough, to make a post ensenuating that because I dont dance to something, that others dont also.

first of all, i dance to chill. i danced to your set, and to some of varuns this weekend, so shut it.

second of all, chill is not DANCE MUSIC. you can dance TO it if it inspires you, but it is not created for the sole purpose of inspiring dance, as are other kinds of DANCE MUSIC, like Psytrance.

third of all. i was not saying that there should not be chill events, im not saying there should not be dancing at the chill stage, i am simply saying that an event called Earth Dance should not be focused on featuring CHILL MUSIC. instead, it should focus on providing DANCE MUSIC, or it should just focus EQUALLY ON BOTH.

the only reason i made the comment was because Tyler told us all that the Earth DANCE events were created to feature CHILL ARTISTS which doesnt make sense, considering its a global dance event for peace.

that is all. no complaints, not bitching, totally satisfied and thankful, just helping to improve upon future events.

I don't think I could have picked a better event for my first psytrance experience.  Althought I'm not (yet) as into the whole spiritual side of psy as some are, I really felt a positive/communal vibe while dancing/walking around/watching people bond.  I've never really listened to much chill/ambient music before, but WOW, with the outdoor setting, decor and taperstries, it made me understand this music so much more.  I really enjoyed just laying in the grass saturday afternoon listening to some really chill tunes and staring up at the sky, very very peaceful/serene.  I actually went to this event alone (although I knew several people who were going to be there), but never actually felt left out/by myself at anytime, people were always exchanging pleasantries (yes I did use that phrase, thank you 1950) when they walked by one another and once again the communal dancing felt unbelievable.  I am sad to hear that some people's experience was not 100% positive as mine was, but I'm sure the good times you had there highly outweighed the bad ones.  I made it a top priority of mine to pack out what I packed in (my cooler became my trash bin as did my jean pockets), which did not bother me in the least since the owners of Elandorf were gracious enough to host this event and others to help in prep.  Once again THANK YOU to everyone involved, this really re-kindled my love of psy and I plan on playing at Earth Dance 2008.  That being said, im off to practice mixing…..Peace 🙂

as for the chill vs psy presence debate, there is nothing that says that a  top notch, well done chill stage cant exist in the same realm as a bumping trance stage…. Just make sure there is enough seperation from them so the chill isnt overrun with sound bleed.

Personally id like to see a chill headliner and trance headliner playing just slightly offset from one another.

Trance headliner 2am-4am
Chill headliner 4am-6am

that way get your wonk on to the trance hl. Get you ass kicked, Go chill out afterwords to some super good chill, and be rejuvenated for sunrise on the trance stage again (hint, hint)

also id really like to see more IDM on chill stages around these parts

and i was just giving you a hard time man…no worries, i know you can get down to some chill…just wanted to say that its nice to hear about chillout being played on a really nice loud system, as us chill folk usually end up playing on whatever else can be scraped together for the weekend…i've been to a lot of events where it felt like the chill area was sort of an afterthought, or where the venue just didn't have a good space for chilling, so its nice to hear about it being presented 'front and center' so to speak.

Oh, and I have some ideas on the whole chill thing.

What if we did the main stage with the wall of sound and overblown visual effects with a fire on both outside corners and then did the chill area in the wooded camping area. Use smaller uber high quality speakers and set up four corner sound surrounding another campfire. Leave a bit of clearing for dancing, but make it feel really intimate and woodsy. Maybe decorate the trees with string art and hang a few lasers up in the trees so they shoot through the smoke from the fire… Or have those mini-spots set up to create will o' wisps in the woods.

I'd volunteer to help orchestrate deco/visuals if you guys need help in the future. I love creating psychedelic enviornments and I have a pretty good feel for what tricks the eye, if you know what I mean…

haha my bad Damon. meant to direct it at NoD, but either way it was just for humorous purposes.

i totally hear ya Nod, i agree that both stages should receive equal focus to encompass all members of the party. at different times, certain people care more about chill than about Psy, and at other times, its just the opposite. i mainly was responding towards Tyler, as he says that his intentions were to feature chill over dance music, when the event is obviously made for dancing. for this reason, i simply wanted to encourage that the best way to solve this problem would be to equally focus on both. maybe 2 DECENT headliners from both genres, rather than 1 mega chill headliner and no mega Psy headliner.

again not complaining, just dicussing, and glad that we are doing so in such a fun way 😉
