Taking this idea from Airyck's message board- would you guys like a separate section for local music (people to post mixes and original works)? We let a lot of labels post things in the Music section and it seems like when people post mixes or tracks they end up getting buried. Would you guys like a new section just for this purpose?

yeah, i think that's a good idea. though you would have to define “local”…

I think what would work best is to have a Music Promotion section for people/labels to post info about upcoming/current releases and another Music section for everything else.

yeah, simple enough. i think they should definitely do that. i just looked through that section, and you are right. too many promo posts with 0 replies, with a few local ones sprinkled about which would probably get more attention if they had a chance to stay on the first page long enough.

I can do it myself, I just wanted to see if people thought it was a good idea/worth my time to move topics.

No, it just dilutes the board.

What you might consider is requiring a 10 post minimum to be able to advertise in the music forum.

It might dilute the board some, but as dennis pointed out, there are tons of posts in the music section promoting albums with 0 replies and a lot of mixes and tracks that get buried in there. I know there aren't many posts there now, but maybe creating a new section with people listening to things would encourage more people to post their stuff here. I know there's a bunch of us are making music and I've been trying to encourage everyone to post more of their stuff so I thought this could help.

you could do it like the madfam board (madison electronic music forum) does it.  have one be a music forum, and one be a members music forum.  The members music one being the area for self made trax and mixes done by members of the forum  Just a thought.

After a quick thought I think adding “DJing/Production” section would be a good idea.

That sounds like a good idea. I think I'll add that in shortly and see how it goes.

I added in a new board and modified the existing one. I think it's a lot cleaner.

Basically the DJing and Production forum will be posts where there is something to download and/or listen to. The Music Promotion and Discussion is for everything else related to music.
