@ scatter, yeah i had heard that as well, but they are limiting the attendance for the first time this year to about half of what it usually is. They said on their site that the event had lost touch with the intimacy of a psyparty and were trying to get it back. Though there is still going to be THOUSANDS of people.

Moved the venue too, still on the lake but in a place with WAY more trees and grass.

I think the “boom going mainstream” talk is because they had an edm stage. That's the reason i've heard from most people.

does that mean chillum in mainstream since the chillstage has become an edm stage?

I don't think it's just that, but they had a whole stage that only played edm the entire time the rest of the party was going on (lots of techno and breaks from what I heard).

We don't need to go mainstream, we already make millions of dollars from parties as it is.

    bwaahahahahahahahahahaha millions of dollars. I

do miss a dedicated chillstage though. Its so sad when the darkness gets to be too much and I'm assaulted by some sort of wonkiness at the 'chill' stage

No it's not, it's called broadening horizons.  You can like what you like, but don't stop the wonk.  EVER.  Blake from now I am going to steadily assault you with wonk of all forms.  Prepare yourself, you have been forewarned.

I agree with blake.  It's more important for soothing music to be around, rather than wonkiness in the darker times of the night.  Don't get me wrong, I love wonkiness, but I don't think the point of the second stage is to be just a different type of music than the first stage.  I think it should be as extreme of a counterpart to the trance stage as possible, which means low bpm, low energy, low impact.  Relaxing stuff.  Wonkiness is fun, but rarely relaxing.  Save it for the daytime hours.  Just my opinion though…

Not quite sure what are you talking here about.

Other festivals decide to have 3rd stage (besides main and chill ones) usually dedicated to other types of EDM (dub techno, minimal, tech house). Is it equal of going mainstream? I don't think so.

If I'm not mistaken thise year they'll have Groove Beach stage@Boom also (I have to admit – it's my guess based on info from few artists that have been booked to perform@chill and other stage, not main though).

And please double check the rumours about 40-50k attendance@Boom in the past 😉

Anyway – looking forward to have a blast in Portugal (going there with bunch of friends and Chillumafia member, going to Porto to check their best wineries :D, chill@seaside apartment then hit Idanha-a-Nova).

how does anyone afford this  ???

    I agree… BIG TIME on a “3rd stage” at midwest psy parties…

maybe one with a decent/free sound system that doubles as the workshop area for daytime and the LEGIT ambient space for the night.

this way you could have the wonk bangin away at night with proper subs.. and any headline “chill” acts would do there sets during the daylight with those proper subs..

but at night when you need an hour or two to zone/breathe there is actually something going on for that……

I don't think it would be THAT hard to put together either. maybe just the pa.. but it could be as simple as the setup in the barn at fractal fields, I'm assuming quite a few attendees have peices like that at home. I do. (-sub, took it back 🙁 )
