Quite a few people play Derango's material , Nate…Jeff (Vampyromorpha) played a few tracks of theirs, one from a side project (Syzygy, Parallell Karusell, etc)… and I played a track from one of the Sanaton Records comps. Swedish forest trance at its best, hardly daytime music though, imo.

Anand, I don't want you to take this the wrong way, but you seem to have no clue about rules that need to be followed at parties.  The primary concern of anyone throwing a party is (should be) the respectful treatment of the venue and its owners.  When they set a decibel guideline for the outside stage and this is exceeded, expect someone to say something.  NCN had to go to court and spend thousands of dollars to fight their case to keep their land after several noise complaints from previous (non chilluminati) parties.  I doubt any of the chilluminati crew wants to be responsible for NCN losing their land or having to go to court again.  Wheter the volume level was your fault or the person before you's fault, you were the one on the decks when a concern was presented and it was assumed you were the one who turned it up since this is the time they heard it.  Wheter you knew this or not is no reason to disregard a request (in whatever manner you believe it was presented to you in) from a party organizer.  I don't know if I'm talking out of turn here, but I know enough about the situation and was told about it right after it happened that I feel something else should be said.  You should always feel priviledged to play at a party and you should always feel priviledged that we have a venue to play at (no matter where it is, especially since it is very hard to get venues).  You are coming across on here as if someone owes you something, but I see no reason why the people or venue involved in this situation should.  Anand, you are a nice person, but you just seem to be missing the picture here.  Everyone always has their own opinions on what happened, but I do not feel that you fully understand your place.  I'm not trying to bash you or put you down in any way, I am merely trying to inform you of how I feel and let you know why things happened the way they did.

A-motherfuckin-men.  If you don't show respect towards others expect none in return. Having dealt with you in a promotional aspect Anand, I can honestly say I would never do it again, in fact it got to the point where I wouldn't do it anymore, I had the other gnomes do it.  The amount of disrespect that you show others at times is astonishing. To question The Chiluminati's integrity when all they were doing was trying to respect the wishes of the venue and the surrounding community is in my opinion out of line.  You have shown a lot of disrespect towards others in the guise of having an open dialog.  I think you owe a lot of people an apology for your attitude.  This is the Midwest, and people here really are not the most open minded of people.  Jackson County and the City of Black River Falls have been as cooperative as I would ever have hoped them to be so far.  They stay relatively out of our way.  And we need to respect the community in return as much as we can.

Lets make a list of whats appropriate for the chill stage and use our contacts to get er done. Right now we CLEARLY have some of us filling slots out of a sense of duty where I guarantee you there guys out there that are perfect for the job that we haven't been tapping. Minneapolis as a few Dubstep DJ's I could talk to. We have a surplus of minimal, and I know which guys play the wierd stuff that wouldn't be heard in a club. I also have access to some IDM live PA's, but these border on breakcore, so it would have to be determined if thats psykosher or if that would just piss people off. Where do we draw the line?

Also, does anyone know any awesome lecturers who specialize in psychedelia or transdimensional discussion?

I remember when parties were about respect and enjoyment of the music. PLUR isn't dead, but it's certainly not as prevalent as it used to be.

He should be having this conversation by PM with the people involved, instead of trying to get a public apology though a disingenuous “discussion.”

since you asked… I think all the ideas listed are fine! I would prefer music that is heavily psychdedlic rather than typical chill-out or lounge (Thievery Corp, Buddha Bar, etc.), but that's cool sometimes too. A lot of other genre music (dnb, house, electro) may be danceable, but it's not very psychedelic, which usually has multiple layers and a twisted element to it.

Hello to all. 

I have been following this thread closely for the past few days and while I don't agree with a number of things in it, I DO agree that there are resolutions to problems.  Unfortunately, this thread is not it. 

I like the direction that some posts are going in, regarding progression and direction of music on each stage area, but the bulk of this thread is convoluted with animosity, negativity, and whining— and not just from Anand, either. 

I would like to say that as a moderator of this forum, I firmly believe that we all have a right to express our opinions in any way, shape, or form.  I feel that this is a great outlet to let your voices be heard and collectively work through the insight of others to create an even stronger community.

I am locking this thread not because it is directed towards me, but because it lacks any true direction at this point. 

Anand, you're welcome to start a new thread to discuss your views on what chill music is, and I encourage participation in this thread as well: http://chilluminatiforum.org/index.php/topic,3255.0.html  all I ask from everyone is:

In the future, if ANYONE has a problem with someone on this forum, including Chilluminati members, it is best to always try to resolve through those individuals first.

One idea is to stop referring to it as chillstage, and call it something else, like 2nd stage (Altered/Alternative stage) or something, so you can have more diverse sounds/tempos there without offending people's expectations.

I enjoy it when mainstage switches genres throughout the festival.

Is it a competition to draw people away from 2nd stage when there are percieved to be too many people hanging out there?

As for flow of music throughout the party, I see it as 60/40 promoters/DJs… that is, promoters have a little more say because they develop the schedule and book certain djs according to their known style. The promoters have an expectation of what the dj will play. But a dj can play what they want. Sometimes a dj or artist can go way out of that expectation. Who can say if it's good or bad.

However, annoying the neighbors and venue owners is always bad and should be avoided.  😉
