unless the virus mutates and becomes more severe, then i would encourage vaccinations. for now though, H1N1 is basically just a brand new, weaker strain of the seasonal influenza. so if you have anything to fear, it is the regular seasonal flu, NOT H1N1.

how good is the vaccine if the virus mutates… 😀

what makes you think he has done so much research?

I don't know, maybe the list of sources which are listed at the end of each article…

Very good, until it mutates.  It doesn't mean that it's pointless to get the vaccine.  They don't even know yet when mutation that would render the vaccine ineffective is going to happen.  I've read stuff that the vaccine could be ineffective next year, and I've read stuff that says it could be within a month.

Regardless, Abe's right.  There's nothing wrong with getting the vaccine.  However, unless you're working in a hospital, pregnant, really young, old, or already have a health problem that affects your immune system or lungs you more than likely don't need it.

Ah come on. There is like 20 times more mercury in a can of tuna than a goddamn vaccine. Yeah, so one gets injected and the other is ingested, big deal. When you drink alcohol it makes its way to your bloodstream, doesn't it? (And hell, if you get a tattoo… do you have any fucking idea what is in your ink?)

A guy my family knows died last sunday due to complications of H1N1 flu. He was 58 and a healthy overall man. He was an on call firefighter/emt and had retired from working at the post office for 30+ years. Once it hits close to home you can see how powerful it can be. It's kind of scary.

Sorry to hear that. On the other hand, talk abut hitting close to home, a person very important to me has a badly compromised immune system and therefore was recently given vaccines for seasonal flu, h1n1, and pneumonia. As a result she got very ill and was vomitting and crapping explosively for 3 days. Kept her hydrated at least but throwing up her meds too soon after ingestion etc…She was going into shock when I got her to the hospital. By the time I arked the car they had 3 ports in her already and I was told a few more hours and we'd have lost her too.
    There are no simple answers.
