    Hello All,

I notice many people lately who are using traktor (or other similar dj softwares).  Due to the fading quality of one of my decks, i'm interested in testing out traktor.  I was wondering if somebody could tell me what kinda of sound card i need for this or for those of you who use such software, what kinda of sound cards do you guys have?

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hey There!!

The card that I have seen everyone use as a standard almost is the

    M-Audio Firewire Audiophile

Talk to Kaiser if you want to get a good deal on a new one.

and best of luck in your learning venture!!

I use an Echo Indigo DJ.  (http://www.echoaudio.com/Products/CardBus/IndigoDJ/index.php)  I just run two outputs into each channel of my mixer.  It's also for laptops only.  Another good one, if you can afford it is the M-Audio Firewire Audiophile.  (http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/FirewireAudiophile-main.html)  I'm pretty sure a couple people here use that as well.

thanks for the replies!  Ben, do you have any issues w/ your Indigo?  Cause i dont' have firewire on my laptop, so the laptop PCMCIA card would be nice.  Did you get it in Madison or purchase online?

      thanks,
      Adam

No issues that I can think of.  It's a great little card to have.  I purchased it online because I was not in the country at the time, but I pretty much guaruntee that the local shops in town here do not have it.  are you from madison?

Yes, yes we do.  There are time that I wish I got the I/O, but I really like the ability to run two output cables from my laptop.  Plus I bought a little Edirol UA-1X for input.  Thats a great little recording box.

Yeah…one of my decks got FUCKED UP at a party i spun at…some drunken fool spilt on it and now the jog wheel sticks…should have known better than to bring it to a party to spin…but now i'm kinda in a rut w/ one deck short.

So now i'm both trying to look for a place to service it close as well as find an alternative solution…

Anybody know anybody who can service a Pioneer CDJ-1000?

I would honestly get ahold of audio depot or mc audio, I doubt they can do it themselves, but they can probably get it serviced for you.  And I hope you beat that dudes ass.

if it was me I'd just tear it apart myself, then I'm forced to learn how to fix it….okay so my way isn't the best but it always works out for me in the end after alot of frustration and beating my self in the head with a brick…as for the audio card on a laptop pretty much anything that has 2 audio outputs will work, even a crappy sb audigy live pcmcia card will do the trick, since it has surround sound out. Another really good inexpensive choice is the maya 44usb sound card

edit: link to maya44 usb http://www.audiotrak.net/maya44usb.htm

I think it's only like $97 or something around there maybe less if you look harder, these people use it for djdecks which is like a final scratch deal which requires really good latency and this is the #1 used card for that, so I don't see how you could go wrong.
