Does he advocate posting Youtube videos all over the net as a means to expose the corrupt? 🙂

    Here's a little guide for you Abe…

YOUTUBE SUCCEED: music videos, live concerts, television shows, weird art projects, how to tie a tie, random rants, interesting talks and presentations, idle entertainment, etc.

YOUTUBE FAIL: overturning basic laws of physics and other well-established scientific truths.

I don't need guidance from ya Alex, for I have grown into a very compassionate, very loving, very intelligent person, without any advice from you. Thank you for offering though.

My intellect has gotten me through undergraduate without wasting any time, while allowing me to achieve very high marks. My intellect has gotten me into medical school, despite the extreme level of competition, and that same intellect of mine is allowing me to outperform more than half of the class. This same intellect is helping me to become a doctor, and soon enough, people will be putting their lives in my hands, trusting me to make the correct evidence-based decisions and recommendations to bring them back to optimal health.

I'd offer you some advice with your biology coursework since I have been there and done that, but you are rude and undeserving.

    Enjoy undergrad while it lasts,

    -Abe

P.S. – Yes, Transparency International has a YouTube channel and they use it to post updates regarding their international fight against corruption, so yes, they do use YouTube to expose corruption in someways.

Have you ever smelled your own shit Abe?  Seriously, take a good whiff of it sometime.  I bet it stinks just like every one else's.

the stink depends on what I ate that day, of course…

…so naturally, some days are worse than others 🙂

You may be all of those things but you have remarkable difficulties distinguishing truth from fantasy and this is precisely what I was seeking to provide some assistance with.

according to you I have problems discerning truth from fiction…

…but since you are not a standard for what is true or false, this means very little.

if anything, you are less qualified than I am to decide what is scientifically true or false, because I have more scientific training than you.  Still though, this does not mean that I am the standard for what is true or false either. My point is, you trying to tell me, a scientist with more science-training than you, that you know what is true and what is false better than I do, is rather meaningless.

In my honest opinion, neither of us are the 'gold standard' for deciding what is true or what is false, but only you are the one accusing others (me) of being wrong, even though I have had more training in using evidence to decide what is right or wrong than you have. Weird that you are accusing me of such things, yet I am not accusing you…

…as for me, I just like to look at all the evidence I can, and make up my mind as I go. The more evidence I see, the more accurate my opinions become, and I don't need any less-experienced scientist, like you, telling me that I can't tell truth from fiction.

I let the evidence do the talking.

    Thanks anyway,

    -Abe

Ego get an erection after you typed that???

You mentioned 4 times in that little blurb about how you have more scientific knowledge then Xeno.  WTF man.  Not this, not the my cock is bigger bs….jeeeese

    Just sayin…

And you know of Xeno's academic credentials?  All of them, including the years of life experience he has on you…

While training and credentials are important, especially when considering a so-called expert's relevance in speaking on a given topic, anyone can think rationally, provided they know how to do so. Despite all of your academic experience Abe, you don't seem to have a solid grasp on rational thinking, argumentation, scientific method, burden of proof, quality of evidence, subjective biases, etc. In short, you've studied plenty of science – more than I have, certainly, but you don't seem particularly interested in thinking rationally…

From my perspective, you seem to have become convinced that since the world is more than what appears on the surface, there is a whole realm of secret and suppressed knowledge, and that therefore all evidence should be accepted uncritically for examination.

Xeno is just arguing for critical thought, and critical examination of evidence.

You seem to be arguing for uncritical examination of evidence and forming intuitive conclusions.

I'd think the former option to be the more scientific…

You can always study up on the philosophy of science and rationalism.

Come on in, the water's fine…

    not true.

i never “fell for” or “bought” the article, as i was very skeptical the whole time I was reading it, but because i have an OPEN-MIND, I did consider the possibility that it might have been real, even though it seemed very doubtful. This is why I started looking for and asking others for evidence to disprove it, and I found that evidence, which allowed me to conclude, without any significant doubt, that it was indeed a hoax.

Before I saw that evidence, I had a strong 'hunch' that it was a hoax, but without proof, i had nothing to go off of but my common sense, which told me it was most likely a hoax. After examining more of the evidence, I was able to conclude that the article was indeed a hoax.

    Like I said…

I let the evidence do the talking.

Basilisk, talk to me when you get your Bachelor's Degree…

…or correct me if you already have one but have just been silent about it this whole time,

DUDE, Joseph, you are so awesome. seriously bro, your wit and sense of humor is off the wall. no one makes jokes like you, and you are a very fair and balanced thinker. I like how you say that you admit that there COULD be a creative force driving the Universe, but the lack of evidence leaves you unconvinced. You are by far the most unique and open-minded Atheist I know.

    Cheers guy,

    <3 Abe

P.S. – I took an entire semester-long course called 'Philosophy of Science' at the University of Iowa, and it was all about the concept of “knowledge”, evidence-based thinking, the scientific method, and more. I am well aware of things like “burden of proof”. A lot of times I think some of the readers of this forum make the mistake of thinking that I have posted all the evidence I view. In reailty, my posts consist of short summaries of evidence, as they are meant to inspire others that find the topic interesting to go do some researching and evidence-browsing for themselves. Certain things, like The Hutchison Effect for example, are things I consider “most likely not a hoax / most likely real”. I never said I believe in it 100%, because I won't be able to say that until I see it with my own eyes. Even if the military openly admitted to it being real, I would still not be able to take their word for it completely, I would maybe be at 90% or 95% certain it was real, but would need to see it for myself LIVE in order to get to 100%. I think a lot of you assume that I believe in things 100% just because I make posts about a topic. Please don't make that mistake… Please also don't assume that my posts are intended to convince anyone, for the specific reason I post is to inspire others to look more into the topic I post about. You can't learn very much just by reading my posts, you have to get inspired and motivated to start reading about the topic for yourself. That is my goal with posts like the one about The Hutchison Effect. I'm not trying to be a teacher, I am just sharing information with hopes of inspiring one or a few of you to maybe look more into it for yourself if you find it fascinating and intriguing. Cheers to sharing information with a community you care about. I wish more people made posts like yours Joseph, for the information you have shared with us here has been very interesting in my opinion. I have really enjoyed some of your political and science-related posts. Keep it up brother!
