I had a blast at this event. The words “complete success” come to mind. 😀 There were just enough people there to make it fun… but not so many that it was overcrowded. I met a whole slew of ppl from across the midwest. The cooperation of the individuals representing the venue was awesome. I cannot wait to help out with another event there.
The music was suburb pretty much across the board. My first time hearing Mr Roboto play, actually. Quite stellar, great way to start off the night. Aktif rocked it and his stage presence was right there, as usual. Getting pics of some of those faces of his is going to be one of my new goals for future parties. 😀
Primordial Ooze delivered one of the best live performances I've heard from them. If that's the new material they spoke of then I definitely like the direction they're heading. In fact, I want a copy, hehe. I heard a couple phrasing issues at the beginning of Ascension's set, but nothing terrible. Once he ventured into the realm of super upbeat mind-bending psy I was pretty much exhausted and dozed off on one of the couches. Watching Abe play as the sun came up will definitely go down as one of my most memorable experiences ever.
As a side note…
One of the guys who was representing the venue, Rori I believe, told me that he actually built the sound system himself. He said he had specifically designed it with dance music in mind. I don't know enough about audio engineering to know if this is possible or not but it seemed like the sound system was just eating any sort minor beatmatching mistakes. (you know, that “chirp.” I didn't hear it once) Either that, or everyone was playing 100% flawlessly, which I'm not inclined to believe. No offense to anyone involved, of course, I've just been to a lot of parties and I've never heard 12 solid hours of perfectly matched transitions.
