bluespectralmonkeyMemberwe use aluminum conduit but you have to go with the heavier guage stuff and yes we have noticed that having a bar across the top is very helpful in keeping the whole thing up and aligned. also yes to grommets. and zipties and less duct tape. duct tape is very hard to remove from the fabric, especially after being in the sun all weekend… you could try bamboo as the crossbar, thats what we have, and after dropping cash on heavy conduit, free bamboo from your neighbors yard at 3am is welcomed.
😉the spandex was not our doing, we had a tough enough time with the Zome structures flying around in the wind
we learned a lot about zipties vs metal fatigue and not to use wire in situations where there will be lots of movement/twisting.
hope everyone enjoyed the zomes. it kicked our ass, especially having to rebuild two of them when they fell down. luckily it wasnt the two big ones.
but it was fun to see them rotating nonetheless…as far as string goes, yeah it can be a pain in the ass but ooooh those curved lines are nice. after several years of trance parties the string tends to look a bit samey after a while, but um, same goes for how the trance sounds imho. gotta find joy in the little things. like crin apparently.
thefixerMembermonkey what is your opinion of the use of PVC conduit to hang tapestry?
I am skeptical it has the rigidity we need, I think it would bow out too much. But i haven't tested it.
