My gosh, I'm still wiped out.  Honestly I had entirely too much fun at this one.  It was soo much fun to get a chance to play at a MoP event and I hope to do so again soon, seeing people dance to the progressive beats that Ben and I threw down was a fun time indeed and has given me a place in my heart for Progressive.  We made the decision early on to split the set and not go as hard on people so as to get them dancing and out of their puddles, think we accomplished that 🙂  thanks go out to everyone who took a listen, gave me advice, compliments, etc.  this was the first set that I truly felt good about afterwards and it was a joy to play for you all.  As for Facehead… I think my brain melted during his sets, my apologies to anyone who might have slipped in it.  There were sounds in there that made me smile non-stop for two hours.  As a result I needed to take it easy during Konflux's set,  Ctrl-Alt-Del however got me back up and moving like Phils Mom on a Friday night.  This man knows how to entertain.  To all my friends, you are all what really made the night, I had some of the best conversations in my life that night, a night filled with Hillarity, Madness, and the best music I've heard in a while makes for one that will not soon be forgotten.

Nick:  Thanks for letting me raid your hard drive for stuff after the party, and for letting us stay there to recoup for a while, I think we had the same feeling during Faceheads set 😉

Chris:  Damn man you are organized to a T,  you have all that shit to do during a party yet still find time to dance your ass off, well done sir.

Abe, your arrest ranks up there with one of Ben's for Worst Timing Ever 🙂  What dicks, but at least you are free and you have that warrant out of the way now.  I'm sure we won't mind having to wait to see you and Airyck do a morning set :).

I always tell DJs to bring their own equipment as a backup in case situations like that happen.  Unless you are bringing your own equipment, its ALWAYS a gamble. 

It costs $75 to rent a pair of CDJ-1000's and an 800. It's worth it.

I would rather split the cost of rental between other dj's interested in spinning on a good gear instead of lugging my stuff all the way from Milwaukee. I can't afford being without the decks in case something goes wrong.

Just FYI on that – We will always have 2 tech 12's, 2 CDJ 1000's, and a DJM-800 for each stage. If you need more gear, we can provide, but we need to know in advance.

I don't have too much to say that hasn't been said already here. I definitely enjoyed myself at Raindance. For me the whole draw of this event were the participants. It's not always easy (or cheap) for Carli and I to make to out to IC but the friends we've made there continue to bring us back.

Musically I wasn't expecting too much from this event having not been very familiar with the headliners… but I ended up being impressed. I must say that I rather enjoyed Konflux's set despite some complications due to tech issues. The track with the drum solo breaks at end of of the made me smile, lol. Gr8 stuff.  CTRL+ALT+DELETE was beyond amazing. Now, THAT is what dark psy performance is all about 😀

On the local side of things I was glad to hear the gnomes and Lawrence's prog sets. I'll always enjoy hearing prog even when mixed on Denons. I missed Scatter/Alien Audience while eating dinner and didn't really get to hear much of Chris or Nick's sets either. It seemed like the sound in the main room was f'ed up at the beginning of the night. Once again I got to miss most of Airyck's morning set while breaking down the party. What I did hear was absolutely awesome, many fresh new tracks that I've enjoyed mixing myself… gotta get that recording 😀

Finally….
Much thanks to Abe for hosting us on Friday night. It can be difficult to socialize at loud banging events sometimes and getting there the night before afforded me the opportunity to meet and talk with some people I hadn't met or had the time to talk with before. Total “college hangout” … I frickin love it, that's how my place was throughout my early 20's 😀  Plus, I got the pleasure of being one of the only ppl that got to hear you play this weekend. Muhahahahaha.  I'm glad to hear that you got things cleared up with the authorities and that there won't be any substantial fallout. Much love to you… and everyone.

Carli and I were like… two of the last people out of the venue and we ended up with a bunch of stuff that doesn't belong to us. We were going to drop it @ Abe's… but that wasn't in the cards. Look for a Lost and Found thread coming soon. We're totally prepared to ship this stuff back to Iowa 😀

I think you are confused. The good dark psy was Facehead. CTRL-ALT-DEL was full on and nowhere near dark…

I don't find anything snobby in supplying top-notch, reliable gear for the party, I think every non-laptop dj will respect and appreciate this a lot  🙂
