after a facebook campaign. apparently there's some show called x-factor (which i assume is like the singing reality/competition show in the us that i can't remember the name of) whose winners for the past 4 years have also had their first single as the #1 xmas song in the uk. somebody started a campaign last year to make rick astley's awesomest song the #1 and didn't win, but got the song into the chart…so this year he went with something more popular and actually pulled it off. article here:
