may not be able to serve alcohol, but
this IS a “psychedelic” trance scene, is it not?
i have found these two types of non-bar venues to be very receptive in the past…

tough for chicago then…
when i was sorta helping out for Aura's in Phoenix…
we would start with real minimal native type stuff… for the bellydancers to get a chance to feel important and warm up the crowd for us… then slowly swing it up a notch, where everyone was comfortable with the music intensity… then take over at midnight with the full on and then dark psy… by then, the bellydancers were ready to go home, and we would get the dancefloor to ourselves…
why would a yoga studio want house? or that other stuff you mentioned damon?
i by no means understand the minds of all yoga studio owners, but why not?
there are no yoga instructors in the chicago area that likes psytrance?

The one place that does events with electronic music is in very close touch with Chicago Burning Man scene (also dj that usually play at BM related events). The crowd (a lot of burners as well) likes those genres much more than psytrance. There's just not enough people here in WIndy City that like psytrance ….

this sounds like a grand idea! Chicago needs some fuckin psychedelia. life's too short for shitty music – there's too many robotic DJ's out there in the world… i can help out with my skills (i spin everything but hard / dark electronic music is my specialty) 8)
