esmokahParticipantthe LSD remix on hallucinogen in dub is sooo goood
damonMemberNo info about Ott@Knetic Playground in Chciago?
RobyoParticipantWe plan on going along with Fixer & Devorah… As far as I know, they've got him lined up with a dubstep dj and some local live electronica.

edaisGuestIt was awesome for the time he actually played… He ended way too early though. >:(
thefixerMemberI totally agree. Ending at midnight felt just… weird. If Ott had to leave, I would have liked Robyo to have been allowed to keep playing.

yup. the band is Rain Delay Theatre. i've never heard them before, but they were pretty good. a trio with a guitar player, a moog keytar player running sequences, and a drummer. i was really impressed by the drummer. the dubstep dj was phaded. he played before and after ott. ott's set was good, but i also felt it was short. when he left, it seemed like he was doing the rock star thing and just waiting for applause to come out for an encore. but, nope. he just left. there were also some minor issues with the sound, where it seemed like something was clipping every once in a while. other than that, it sounded really good there. phaded had some nice dubstep going… until he queued up a michael jackson remix. that was the sign it was time to go.

I missed Rain Delay, but caught Phaded. OTT's set was great, but yeah, the clipping sound was annoying. I think his digital mixer was dying on him. So they flew OTT from Chicago to Madison (?) and O'Hare lost his equipment. He ended up using my decks Saturday night and it sounded flawless. I think I liked Saturday night's dj set more than his Friday night live set, mostly because the clipping sounds were gone. All around cool dude, though. He expects to be back in the states this fall.

That's cool, because now you can say “OTT USED MY DECKS!!”

so since you heard him twice, how were the sets different? and do you know his “live” set up?
and how was the crowd in madison? i don't like to judge or talk shit, and i wasn't there for the crowd. but i can't say i felt particularly good vibes at kinetic playground. nothing bad, but it was kind of… weird.
but ott's set inspired me to work on some dubby goodness and it's coming along nicely. if i can keep up the inspiration going, maybe i'll even finish something this time.
thefixerMemberMadison crowd was obviously very savvy to Ott and very mellow. Which kind of worked for and against it. They clearly *got* Ott but the energy was a little lower. Kinetic Playground, I got the impression there were just electro heads of all varieties and much more alcohol involved, which made for a chaotic dance floor but I actually felt Friday night's energy was much stronger. There were too many people at Kinetic who were on the dance floor but not dancing so I was colliding with drunks constantly. But the crowd in front of the stage at Kinetic was very dynamic and fun.
Ott may have been more relaxed and having more fun at Kinetic Playground cause he had his own equipment. He didn't look up much or make much eye contact with the crowd in Madison, but he was flirting constantly with the crowd at Kinetic. I imagine having United lose his equipment might have put him off his game a bit.
