Seriously…this actually is the first time I am disappointed in you Machi.  It's not that you don't care to explain it to ME.  It's that you can't.  You could have responded that's just how you feel and that's that.  There's no counter argument to “that's just how I feel.”  Instead you had to turn it back onto me like I'm horribly disconnected from the natural world, I'm unable to recognize the obvious and that I'm really “some” kind of person.  You make it seem like I'm the a-hole for countering what somebody wrote in a public forum.  I even stepped to you open and sincerely ready to hear you out.

As far as ripping on Abe…I've been doing it for the past 3 years, been quite upfront about my intention to challenge his posts and will continue to do so.  I will discredit him and his beliefs at every opportunity in a public forum.  His posts have been some of the most ignorant, insulting, abhorrent and misguided writings/beliefs/opinions I have ever read.  My jaw still sometimes drops in disbelief when I think about some of his posts.  I still think he's got some major ego, maturity and personality issues that he needs to address.     

Yes I am different online than in-person.  This is a public forum.  I've said before that I make a clear distinction between the public realm and my personal family/friend relationships.  I think what is written in public is important, does matter, needs to be challenged and argued.  Authors/posters should feel completely responsible for the info they pass on.

As far as my personal character goes…I am sooo not worried.

dude… simply… I don't care, I don't have time for useless philosophical conversations which don't really bring anything into my life despite of whatever you may think of them. I don't have sophisticated scientific equipment to measure energy levels of my body during different periods of time so I can proof my point to you  ;D. i also wanted to mention quickly that I use this calendar for the reasons I have mentioned thus far and for other similar reasons, but I do not use this calendar because of anything related to 2012. Dr. Arguelles has some interesting opinions about 2012, many which seem to be more speculative than purely fact-based, but as interesting as they are, I cannot endorse his 2012 predictions and beliefs without some scientific evidence.

On the other hand, the DreamSpell calendar system he has devised, by integrating the old time-keeping science of the Mayan Tzolkin system and Lunar Calendar with more recent information, is something I do support. The 13 moon calendar alone is much more reliable, consistent, and accurate than the Gregorian calendar, even if we just look at the fact that every month is the same length in the 13 moon calendar but not in the Gregorian calendar.

When I use an instrument of measure, such as a ruler, I use it because all the units are of equal length. If I found out that the ruler I had been using had 1 inch that was actually 0.9 inches, and 1 inch that was 1.1 inches, I would toss it and go find a new measuring stick that has equal units of measure. This is just one of the many reasons I switched calendars, so I just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone thinks that I fully endorse any specific beliefs regarding 2012, such as those of some of those discussed by Dr. Arguelles.

I do think it is highly possible that there is an awakening of human consciousness / awareness going on right now, perhaps waking up to how precious life is and how much corruption surrounds us that must be addressed, but this could just be coincidental timing, who knows. I remain skeptical, but open minded.

Catholicism incorporated a lot of pagan beliefs and practices way back when in order to win over pagan converts.  Another example of religion changing it's marketing in order to win over a new/changing customer base.

I do agree that the Dreamspell, created by Jose Arguelles is hogwash.  Giving arbitrary meanings and energies to a series of days in a cycle without any basis to back it up is what gets me.

However, I do find merit in the 13 moon calendar.  It is indeed a more accurate calendar, with regards to astronomical cycles.

The convincing argument for me is this:

• We live our lives by the clock and the calendar, our measurement of time.
• The units within our measurement of time are unequal. (months of 28 days, 30 days, 31 days).
• The units within our measurement of time follow no natural cycle other than the earths rotation around the sun, which itself needs to be corrected every 4 years (leap year).
• The current units, as well as things such as daylight savings time were created to maximize profits in the economy.
• Our current measurement of time is based off of money and efficiency.
• If you build a house with a ruler of unequal units, it won't be a very stable one
• The 13 moon lunar calendar is a much better measurement of time that accounts for cycles of the moon and the sun
• 13 moon months of 28 days each + 1 extra “new year” day

i also think it is cool that Dr. Arguelles' Foundation for the Law of Time is a 501(c)3 Non-profit Public Charity, and that they give away free copies of the calendar. the full-color PDF copies are free to download, and you can order a pocketbook hard copy for only $2 shipping (see links in first post), which is drastically cheaper than every calendar I had purchased in the past.

Regardless of whether the 'Dreamspell' aspect of this calendar is truly “hogwash” or not, I think it's great that someone is using their education and training to create and disseminate a modernized version of the 13-moon calendar for the benefit humanity and our planet.

maybe I'm wrong here, but I don't think you understand what Robyo meant…

…because the calendar you and most people currently use, the one with 12 months (January to December), is the one that is named after the Catholic Pope Gregory XIII (the Gregorian Calendar), and this same calendar is also full of Paganism. That is what Robyo was saying, is that he finds it ironic that the Catholic Gregorian calendar is full of Pagan beliefs.

I don't care what calendar you use, but for someone so strongly anti-religion, I find it rather confusing that you choose to use the Catholic-Pagan Gregorian Calendar instead of a more accurate, non-religious calendar, such as a lunar (13 moon) calendar or some other alternative…

I tried to find an “atheist lunar calendar” for ya but had no luck, perhaps because the lunar / 13-moon calendar is already 'atheist' since it has no religious beliefs attached to it? From what I understand, the 13-moon / lunar calendar system is not tied to any specific religious beliefs. Despite the fact that various religious groups have chosen used the 13-moon / lunar calendar system throughout history due to its accuracy and reliability, the 13-moon / lunar calendar system is not based on or named after any religion, as it's simply based on the naturally occuring orbital periods of the moon, earth, and sun.]
