You guys are going to be CENSORED again soon ;D ;D ;D

    u mean Hixed….. ;D ;D ;D

Maybe the vibe you send off is being reflected back to you? If it was in Chicago, get out of Chicago! A lot of the people that goto events there are known to be a bit on a snobby side. I actually swore off ever going to Chicago events until a certain group enticed me with a psy one..

    Hmmm….never felt that the first time i came to Chicago to Connexioism…..awesome people…. ;D ;D ;D

Sadly never got to meet/talk to anyone since the time was very less… 🙁

I've seen some good friends go down the tubes because of the whole Chicago E club scene.

    Clubs are not raves..

Yeah… I think we're talking about 2 entirely different groups. Raves to me were open air beach parties in Goa.
From what I picked up from people here, Raves are indoor events where people get wasted, DJs behave like superstar celebrities and the only common goal is getting laid.

Okay, I'll get back to this with a clear head. I havnt slept in 2 days and am on the edge of insanity. I apologise if I allowed some of that frustration out on my posts.

Raves can be indoors, but not at clubs. Warehouses, lofts, forests, public parks, lots of places..

    Hello People!!

It is interesting to read all the various perspectives of people from different backgrounds. Being from India myself, I had the same concept (like Varun) of raves being outdoor parties in contrast to the indoor concept here.

On the other hand, I have seen the same kind of people in all parties irrespective of the country where the party is being held. You will have people who are friendly and forthcoming along with those who are snobbish and always maintain the superiority complex whereever they go. The
%-age spread might be a little different, thats all.

I have been in the US for 7 yrs now and before Geologic, I did not know that Psy existed in the US. All the parties before that were all hard techno, drum and bass, hard trance etc. I met great  as well as shitty people in these parties.

Not all people in US raves nowadays do E (from my experience) and many just stick to alcohol, period. People on E do tend to be more friendly in my opinion and thats something I like:) I would not agree with the opinion that only people in raves are looking to get laid however. Horny people are there in Indian raves as well as the US ones and sometimes in psytrance gatherings ;D 😀 😉 😮

Both E and A have their experiences that are wonderful in their own ways. In my opinion, A just makes you think more about the issues that you are facing and sometimes you come up with very good ways to solve them. E on the other hand has been used as an Anti-depressant before it was banned and I can say from my experience that it has definitely helped me as well.

IMO, A does make you aloof and isolated because of the inward analytical frame of mind that keeps you from socializing like when you are on E. However Taken in moderation!! 😉 ;), I think both of them are wonderful ways to expand your horizons in life.

punk, raver, hippie, yuppie, metalhead… can't we all just get along?  ;D

It's true that certain medicines are helpful in healing and self-analizing. I prefer to keep mine natural, but if folks want to do synthetics, then more power to them. Of course too much of any good thing, will eventually bring you down… The psytrance scene wouldn't exist without “mind expanders”, but it's definitely cool to see sober people enjoying themselves too.
There is a theory that yoga was developed in ancient India when the “soma” (amanita muscaria?) couldn't be found anymore. Devoted meditation is just as mind-altering and healing as any chemical.

I guess Dalai Lama said in one of his interviews that acid is soo boring in comparison to meditation  ;D

Interesting…I have not heard that before.  One of my Zen instructors spoke about how he's seen some amazing patterns and hallucinations he has seen in ornamental Japanese rugs in front of him on which he was just sitting and meditating.  The Zen style I guess is to meditate with eyes open and taking everything full on experience!    I'm diggin' it!

I feel like talking tonight! (i.e. manic)

So I got to say that even when I was straight edge as far as usage was concerned I was never really judgemental about other peoples choices.  Sure I would have that first judgemental thought about someone but I was able to speak over that automatic reaction and find a way to be ok with that person (as long as they weren't hurtful to themselves or others).  I've never been a big fan of right or worng.  There's just what is and what I may intellectually agree with or not.

I've always made distinctions between investigational use, recreational use, abUSE and addiction.  The only drug in my past that I felt got to the level of abuse was meth.  I define abuse as using to the point where it may not be in your best interest to be doing that right then…or where it puts you in a worse off position then before doing it.  Addiction to me is the inability to stop doing a drug/alcohol/activity without the help or intervention of someone or a resource other than yourself.

I once met a kid at a party who had done some meth as well as a number of other things that have earned The Goodhousekeeping Psychedelic Seal of Approval.  Instead of judging him or shunning him I talked with him.  Got to know him, had a nice chat, I talked about some of my past experiences.  So someone just investigating, or recreationally (there is nothing wrong with feeling pleasure…pleasure is not abnormal to humans) or if you are just in place in your life where you need to learn some good lessons then I really don't see any right/wrong to anyone's choice.  I of course would intervene if someone's choice was a danger to others but otherwise to each their own.  You either have a problem with others intoxication or not.  And there are many forms of intoxication.  If there was a person who a cared for greatly I would take them aside and express myself if I was in dis-agreement with their possible abuse or addicition.  Some people may say that others have to just eventually figure it out for themselves or “hit rock bottom”.  I tend to think though that our conversations with those we are in relation to does make a difference to the other person.  It's far worse and unkind to not say anything to someone you care about if you sincerely disagree with their choices.

I'm talked out for the night now!  ;D

    Here's what I remember about raves :

-having to “sneak out” to go to them (still in highschool)
-having to have one of my friends drive me there
-having that same friend not enjoy the event and want to go home early
    -smoke
    -more smoke
    -still more smoke
    -seeing Hardfloor live
    -thinking Green Velvet sucked
    -getting tired of house
    -getting tired of techno
    -getting tired of tech-house
-thinking jungle was just about the coolest thing since sliced toast (It's still pretty cool, btw.)
-wondering why DJs didn't play more trance
-not knowing what psy/goa was just yet
-thinking most Djs were aloof, over-glorified dickheads
    -seeing people fuck in public
    -cursing my virginity
-feeling like I was doing something illegal
    -dancing hard

    Yeah…that about sums it up.

ahh haa the visions have cleared and i can remember some of what happened those days.

Phoenix AZ-  Some Time In 1999
Phoenix County Fair Grounds-  3 stages, set in a semi circle, out doors,  trance nrg stage, headline stage, dnb breaks w/ mcs stage(this one looked ghetto)  around those stages where the crowd, around the crowd was phoenix police.  i went there with two people i really didnt know all that well, hell the dude and i went to get our tounges pirced earlyer that day.  we get there and right away dudes mission is to find some LSD,  with in 15 min we had are stamps and had taken one each.  all in front of the police which was wierd for me.  the only performer that i remember is the exicutioners.  it was pretty awsome to see, considering the most electronica i had been introduced to at the time was breaks and drum n bass, though at the time i had a juno reactor cd that i never listened to much and really had no clue what it was. we didnt stay for long which sucked though it was a wild experience.

    Caffine Halloween- New Orleans- LA
State Palace Theater(now closed cuz of FBI then Katrina)
Headliners- Micro, Deepsky, Dieselboy, King Britt, Misstress Barbara, Total Science, MC J-Messinian
Other stages- Tam, Dj 360, Dj Libra, Jeffy D, Sinrrr, Stryfe, Starbaby, Pau B, El Angel, Mathe

I dont remember much of shit for this show.  took a ceritonin booster then a pill that was speedy as hell couldnt dance, just could move, bounced mostly and photons just went up and down, no cool raver tricks,  event staff where worse than the police that where in the venue.  you breathed wrong there was some one right there to eather slap you on the wrist and take you vicks inhailer, or arrest you for some thing dumb.

all the rest of things ive been to have been parties.  the quality has been well noticed between event orgs.  im just glad that i have found a place that i feel “Normal” in…..
