after talking with MOP and with them being over budget as well as my own current financial concerns (nailed a deer last weekend in my WRX, costly damage, and needing a rental and what not)
we both decided it was in everyones mutal interest to give this one a pass.
MOP can save a little bit on me, not be as pressed with figuring out timeslots etc etcthose bummed about it, should make the trek to springfield the following weekend. I'll play preety much the same set, and those not able to do that, well ill be back with double the goodies for the next round in psyowa

PookztAMemberno alcohol or smoking inside, period. they will have a few student security members hanging out to make sure those rules arent broken, but these will be college students, so they wont be rude. On the other hand, lets not give them any extra reason to be.
RESPECT this venue, and more will follow. if things go well here, we may get access to the infamous University of Iowa Memorial Union Ball Room / Concert Hall 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

If you are refering to if they think this is going to be some stereotypical RAVE party. They don't.
They have much higher expectations. This is ok, because we all strive to set the standards for our events above expectations. This is no exeption. If anything, we are going to show them that they WANT us back.

ya they are aware! they are encouraging our event because it promotes sober, clean entertainment, a great alternative to the alcohol-infested downtown bars, and promotes art, creativity, and self expression!

PauldoMemberI won't be attending but here's my thoughts…
My general thought about water has always been to keep it free or cheap to avoid people getting dehydrated.
However, since I think the venue change has killed your budget you should go ahead and charge the 2 bucks for it to recoup what you can. A majority of people can probably afford it and it wouldn't stop them from drinking more water when they need it.
Anyone who has ever been to a MOP party and knows you guys, know that you aren't in it for the money. If someone really couldn't afford it then I can't imagine you guys would deny someone a bottle for a buck or a freebie. There's a good age range in the psy scene which means there's a good amount of working folk. If you see someone who's been out on the dance floor for awhile and they look like they need water go buy them one, don't ask if they need one, just buy it for them. The venue may also frown upon people filling up their empty bottles in the bathroom sink. Don't give the venue any reason to not invite y'all back. There's a huge upside to getting invited back.
