edaisGuestCONCEPCION, Chile (Reuters) – One of the world's most powerful earthquakes in a century pounded Chile on Saturday, killing more than 300 people as it toppled buildings and triggered tsunamis that ravaged a port town and threatened Pacific coastlines as far away as Japan.
PookztAMemberpoor Chileans 🙁 what is up with all these quakes? thanks for posting Phil.
RobyoParticipantwhat is up with all these quakes?
HAARP?
Nameless OneParticipantAre major earthquakes trending upward? I'd like to know because a lot of people seem to think they are… I'll have to do a better search some other time (I have some studying to do) but here's something from the USGS:

zensphereMemberApparently earthquakes can shift the planetary axis and change the rate of rotation of the earth. Who knew?
edaisGuesthttp://earthquake.usgs.gov/learn/topics/increase_in_earthquakes.php
In accordance with this, we've already had our larger than 8 earthquake and one of 17 of our alotted 7.0 magnitudes.
Nameless OneParticipantIt's not a quota, it's a mean. We don't know the variance. I bet some sleuthing around the journal databases could turn up some good info on this… actually sort of surprised it isn't more readily available but I am guessing the observer bias (i.e. apparent earthquake increase due to better equipment and coverage) is quite strong.
zensphereMemberobserver bias rules the mind.
AerosisMemberJust so you guys know, I'm pretty confident this also has to do with the conspiracy we're all talkin bout 😉
Nameless OneParticipantThere is no such thing as coincidences, accidents, or natural disasters any more. Reality itself is controlled by ultra-powerful elites. Only Youtube is free of their sinister grasp.

Lol no those things still exist… I just think coincidences are rarer than things that seem only like coincidences and really aren't. Because the reason we think something is a coincidence is because it somehow relates to something else in a rather eerie way… chances are something like this happens for a reason.
So although what you just said may have been sarcastic… you are actually getting a little closer to grasping what is going on.
Nameless OneParticipantYou'd have a point if there were a statistically significant increase in the number of massive earthquakes in recent years… but there isn't so you don't.
AerosisMemberAhh but I would have a point! 🙂 No i don't have any conclusive evidence on this premise right now because it is not my focus… but my intuition tells me that it is true.
Nameless OneParticipantThere's no arguing with that logic, is there.
