How far does a ‘laptop live’ set constitute a ‘live’ set? Do you think there a quite a few artists who now bill themselves as ‘live’ when they’re really just pressing a few buttons in Ableton?

The change in dance music is that now everyone has a laptop and everyone can get a cracked copy of Ableton, so suddenly everyone is making what I call ‘Ableton techno’, and you get all these pedestrian records that just use the default sounds. When something is so common and easy to make, it has no value any more. I have to be careful as I always end up pissing people off who like that kind of thing, but I could be grumpy about it for hours!

Just the fact that you can use Mac OS X and everything comes inbuilt, takes the cake away from me. No need to format machines, no problem with viruses etc. Consistent UI across all software. Every software imaginable is available as OPEN SOURCE or FREE software.

And it just looks good 😀

So in gist, if you can afford – go for a Mac. Much better resell value. My frnd recently sold one year old Mac with just 100 USD off. Great hardware.

i've converted several friends & family members of mine to the world of Macs & they can't stop thanking me for showing them the light ;D
one of my sisters just bought a new 13″ Macbook (2.1 ghz processor / 2 gb ram / 120 gb hard drive) for less than $1000! 😮
i can't stand cracks / illegal software >:( their glitches & sound quality are among the worst things to encounter when you're trying to come up with something creative (they fuck up your computer too) – support products / music by buying it! you'll live in no fear if you know what i mean 8)
