After you have posted 10 times, you will see new buttons called Applaud or Smite.

If you like a post and Applaud it, it will increase the posters positive karma. If you Smite them, it will decrease their karma.

I may modify the number of times posting is need to prevent abuse later, but have fun with it!

I'm turning it on and off periodically to prevent its misuse. Let's wait until we get more members and a more balanced community. Right now it's too small a board to alienate people with this feature IMHO.

The whole thing seems kind of passive agressive to me. But maybe thats because I have a tendency to tell people what I think directly to their face.

It's like the 5 stars you see now routinely on amazon.com, netflix, eBay, and many other places. It is a way of informing the community about consensus, how someone has treated you, etc. All the online communities are developing systems like this. People talk about other people all the time, but through systems like this you find out about it and may be able to do something about it.

The problem is right now that we don't have a large enough base of posters for this system to work very well.

I will probably turn it on a later time when the board is bigger and more balanced, if people want.

Is there a way to make it so you can tell which post got you a + or -?

I don't wnat to use that well known argument “this is just a mesage board” but …this is just a message board 🙂

PS. I know I talk too much shit online and in real life ..so I don't care 🙂
