This will rival December 20, 2012 as a party date, especially in northern India. Put it on your calendars! devorah and i can actually do this one.

The solar eclipse that takes place on July 22, 2009 will be an total eclipse of the Sun with a magnitude of 1.080 that will be visible from a narrow corridor through northern India, eastern Nepal, southern China and the Pacific Ocean. Totality or near-totality will be visible in many cities such as Calcutta, Chandigarh, Chengdu, Chongqing, Delhi, Kathmandu, Hangzhou, Lucknow, Patna, Shanghai, Shimla, and Wuhan. A partial eclipse will be seen from the much broader path of the Moon's penumbra, including most of South East Asia and north-eastern Oceania.

This solar eclipse is the longest total solar eclipse that will occur in the twenty-first century. Totality will last for up to 6 minutes and 39 seconds, with the maximum eclipse occurring at 02:35:21 UTC about 100 km south of the Bonin Islands, southeast of Japan.

Not to offend anyone but do people really have that much meaning to the whole 2012 thing?  Enough to at least have a party?  What again is supposed to happen on that day?

well even if you don't believe in any of the millenarian hokum, either december 20th or october 28th of that year is the turning of the Mayan calendar back to Day 1, I guess, so that's as good a reason for a party as any in my book.

Well yeah I know YOU don't need any reason to have a party!  Kidding!  ;D

Let's celebrate all ancient calendar systems!

We can do this …. 2009 …  Chilluminati & Bengalien & Chillumafia festival at Calcutta. 😉 I have the outdoor location, sound, DJs, Deco. 2009 is far enough for us to plan towards, so you guys have plenty of time to get there. 🙂 Damon … this is the year.

Varun we can do it. My daughter is graduated in June of that year, we have no more reason to stay in the US. We will start planning.

I should know where I'll be at the time sometime around the summer or end of 2007. Gives us a little over a year to figure it all out. It all comes down to who is where and when. We do 1 day events every year so getting a festival together shouldnt take more than a couple of months. Would be awesome if we could get the midwest crew to visit India at the time. I've always wanted to show my friends back home how we kick it as the Chilluminati. What we do here is def. different… would be amazing if both vibes come together.

Yep. 5+ day fest next July most likely in Colorado. We are supposed to setup a caravan or bus there, regional support, etc. Should be pretty amazing.

Basically the US is uniting to do our own version of “Boom”, “Full Moon”, etc..

It is a bit too early to have any more info though…
