PsygominMemberI want to get a couple of singing bowls…..
damonMemberI have one ;D
Mystic MorningMemberI also agree that it would be great to have ONE rhythm machine split into the main PA so that we can keep our songs going with less interruption and/or momentum loss due to those 'musically challenged' individuals.
I can press the button on the rhythm machine! I am one of those challenged people but really want some kinda cool tribal toy thing to do like everyone else 🙁
i'll bring something that you can press a button on Jeff, I'll just paint Jeff's button on it and you can press it okay?
RobyoParticipantI want to get a couple of smoking bowls…..
that would be perfect to bring to a drum circle, Jim! 😀
PsygominMemberi wish they were not so damn expensive. i think they sound beautiful

I can let You use mine ;D
dnsGuestI was thinking that it would be really cool to have a special stage set up at festivals that would be the techno equivilant of a drum circle.
Heres how I would implement it…
We would need a decent console mixer with lots of channels. Something with many different types of inputs would be ideal. A versatile effects loop would also be killer. It would also be very helpful if we had some sort of device that would allow us to easily sync up everyones gear to a master tempo. I think most modern mixers output a midi signal, but there might be issues with the length of the signal chain if we just daisy chained everything. Also, some gear is lame and only has an input/output and no midi thru. Something with multiple outs would be great.
We would have several folding tables set up in a U shape with a smaller table in the middle. Put the mster mixer in the middle and set it up so people can just bring their favorite toy down to the tent, plug into the mixer and configure their gear to slave to the master tempo and be good to go. Various volunteers would take turns being the guy in charge of monitering what people are outputting and mixing it in to make it sound good. I figure one guy would control levels and the various options on the console and another could take charge of feeding peoples sounds to the effects loop and tweaking the effects.
I think this kind of thing would go over extremely well since a very high percentage of people that still go to events are involved in the making of music. I know that I spend a good deal of time at outdoor festivals wishing I could be collaborating with the people I am meeting instead of having it be a “one guy at a time” thing. It would also help pass those LONG daytimehours when its too hot to do anything but walk in a circle drinking beer and going on pointless quests to pass the time tillyou can get your groove on.
i think this is a great idea. would anyone like to give it a shot at sacred earth? i'll bring my electribes. those little things would be perfect for something like this.
SkrollerParticipantever try putting some water in your singing bowl? It's amazing, sounds like a spaceship flying around.
Does anyone own an electric sitar? I've always wanted to play one with a theremin.

I don't want to become a master. I just want to learn basisc so no worries 🙂
Anyway: are you bringing your toys to AUM (especially didgeridoo)? If so I can probably get 2 mics with stands and we can jam together again? Interested?

I think you could master them someday.. 😉
Alas, I'm too occupied this month with moving to Chicago to go to AUM. It's a bummer, but that's life. Soon though, I'll be a regular in the city. Definitely we need to jam/record when I'm relocated there. I've already been talking with Radiohiro about it too. Perhaps make the organic/acoustic electronica trio a reality? ;D

Acoustic trio? I don't think I'm good enough to play on stage. Again 8)
