AscensionKeymaster@ Fixer, I was just saying as an example that the Ghost Dance religion used dancing as a major component in their belief system. We all know what happened at Wounded Knee… and now you're saying it was the Native American's fault the government came in and continually screwed them over and slaugtered them??
I realize you've been studying this subject for awhile and I appreciate your knowledge, but your attitude, Mr Fixer, is broken. If Collision or others see their love of psytrance in religious terms, more power to them. It's awesome that some people are trying to find deeper spiritual meaning than simple nights of wretched excess. Oh, but you're the self-proclaimed authority and anyone else with an opinion on the matter must be foolish.I don't know fixer too well, but I think he's just providing a counterpoint to what chris is proposing. Some kind of hard love/reality check. I would LOVE to see something like this happen because I have found much spiritual meaning in psytrance and psy parties, but there would be a ton of work involved, as well as a great deal of opposition.
RobyoParticipantNice topic. Didnt notice it before. Since I am not an American so cant say about the laws but if you people do end up starting up something like that, I would love to become a member…
BTW, can you follow 2 religion simultaneously???? I mean I dont want to leave my original religion i.e. Hinduism 🙂
Definitely!
Hinduism seems the most tolerant of the major world religions. I was raised Christian, but I like studying Huduism and Yoga and Eastern/Western philosophies.

Yeah. I just don't want to fight. ;D
PauldoMemberTakes two to fight! >:( ;D
Doubt Fixer had much attitude in his posts. Him and I communicate with each other in the same way, direct but not ever personal. There are things such as healthy arguments. I certainly don't doubt his care and concern for us. He's pretty damn funny…looking. ;D No really, he cracks me up all the time. I've learned to pretty much trust what he says. One of the most intelligent people I have ever met.
NightowLMemberall great posts… I guess therell be a lot more looking into it… all I know is that itd be very easy already to get alot of patrons

I have strong feelings about the Ghost Dance and have for some time before you brought it up. Sometimes am scared that that is what psychedelic trance/culture is turning into, especially with all the 2012 stuff. The Ghost Dance was a millenarian cult that taught that the Indians were all going to be saved by god if they just did their escapist ritual. We all know that god did not save the Indians. Ghost Dance is a good example of how religion can help get us killed and culture extinguished.
I believe dance can be spiritual and there are plenty of aboriginal examples of dance spirituality without invoking the Ghost Dance cult.
NightowLMemberto fixer, when we use the 2012 thing, its more of a theme, not a theory. just something to get people excited 8)
RobyoParticipantI once suggested on this website we use the Natural Time Calender, in addition to the Gregorian.
Ghost Dance, I like how it incorporated circle dancing and a tribal unity. There were different offshoots with ideas like divine intervention. I believe it is possible to look at past examples of religious movements for ideas without supporting all their doctrine. Old ideas can be taken and incorporated into new systems.
EnergonMemberThe whole time this thread has been cooking I've been wondering WHY anyone would want to do this. It seems to me like there are better models for what you're trying to accomplish than organized religion. Take, for example, a fraternal organization like the Elks. I imagine they can have a “party” at their lodge whenever they feel like it.
Private organizations like this set their own rules which aren't necessarily affected by local law… for example, did you know that Elks membership is skyrocketing in areas where cigarette smoking has been banned in bars / other public places? Why? Because you can still smoke and drink at the the lodge.
Just food for thought I guess 🙂
NightowLMemberwith certain laws in the works (ie the terrorism act thing), we need the law on our side just in case some tyranny/dictator shit goes down. thats all im saying…
PauldoMemberThose Elks know how to throw down the parties! ;D
I think if we successfully create a religion with sincere religious beliefs it would provide stronger protections than a frat org. You could start a private membership club and do whatever you want to do in your club as long as you are following local safety and sound ordinances. Elks still have to follow state liquor laws regarding business hours? Religion might give you more protection re: all-nighters. The religious practice of our gatherings do go all night into the morning. It's part of our religion.
If you do a private membership club your attendees to events will have to be signed up as members prior to the event. You could not have walkin's coming off the streets paying an entrance fee at the door. You could charge membership fees and usage fees when members use the club to attend an event. Prob best that no one can gain membership without referral from an existing member. And we'll have to come up with a secret handshake. Or we could ride around in little cars like the Shriners.
HARDKORNATEMemberI think if we form a frat org we DEFINITELY need to have the little cars.
thefixerMemberWhat I've been thinking is, if you got a true vision you just preaching it. Not discussing endlessly on a forum how to start a religion. A religion is a spontaneous thing like getting laid. Maybe we should discuss helping Collision get some nookie instead, we could have weeks of discussion about it. And at the end he still wouldn't be getting any.
Religions are organic things – you either got the mojo or you don't. If you don't really have the fire, everyone's going to see it's a scam like Universal Life Church. Collision I think you need to talk to God and find out what he wants you to do. Charlie Manson didn't need a month long forum discussion to figure out what he was about. It's obvious you don't BELIEVE. You might as well drop this dumb idea before Wodan strikes you down bro.
