For those that used to be on Midwest trance email list back around 2001 you may remember my fascination with booty/ghetto trance and hoping one day to have it. Just wanted to put that out there and see if anyone can take up the challenge of creating a booty psy mix 🙂

    Any takers?  ???

      There's a label called psybooty.

      …But it sucks.

Quirk did some really funky, disco-style psy circa 1998.  Oh, and Squaremeat's gone into that territory as well…

…but to get “booty psy” I imagine you'd need to take the booty-bass and electro-y bits from booty, along with the innane song lyrics, and throw those into the mix.

But let's pray this unholy Frankenstein never gets made.  I like psy because it's “intelligent” music, and decidedly “un-ghetto.”

Not all psytracks are intelligent imho …

Oh yeah, would not want to step out of the box of seriousness and just have some fun ass-shaking music.

I am not talking about changing the world here, just a fun mix as a challenge to try something that hasn't really been done..

I should totally try my hand at making some.  just cuz it's “unholy”.  ;D    I do need a project that sparks my interest enough to fire up my production equipment though…..

…closest thing I can come up with.

Point being, whatever weird hybrid you can think of, it probably exists somewhere.

            That's pretty awesome 🙂

I am not a musician by any means but I always thought the best DJs were ones that took music that did not fit their particular genre and mix it in. Maybe sample some DJ Assault of DJ Funk and toss it in a few loops?

I know that in some Iowa parties we have started yelling ghetto lyrics out during the psy sets 🙂

Especially, “Hold up wait a minute”

            Psyclones got particularly funny 🙂

Well, if you can get ahold of some terrible ghetto-booty track, we can do a mash-up.  I dunno…mix it with some nondescript GMS track.  Or, better yet, some dark style psy that's all percussion, wibbly noises and no melody.  Would be really easy to do in Ableton.

The most shining example of aforementioned mash-up DJ technique would be dj_rupture.  Surely, as a breakcore fanatic, you're familiar with his mixing style.  Ragga into R'N'B into dancehall into breakcore into hip-hop into obscure world-beat, etc.  His newest mix is called “Low Income Tomorrowland.”  He is talented.  I am not.

word. if you do find some attempts, holla atcha boyz (i.e., post links in this thread for me).

booty-house/miami bass kind of stuff is so much fun. i'm not sure what psy elements would mix well with it, but
what underfoot suggested might probably work. we won't know until someone tries it. mixing typical psy imagery/vibes
with typical ghetto-ass booty-shaking shit tickles my funny pickle in some funny pickle-tickling way. maybe i'll give it a try…

                  ;D

Now I'm gonna have to get some booty cd's and try this.

Shitmat is awesome.  I have all of his albums and am looking forward to his new one on Sublight.
