I felt like I should post this because it is related to our health and well-being.

One of the observations regarding Fluoride which concerns me the most is that some studies have shown that Fluoride accumulates in the Pineal Gland, which correlates with Calcification of the Pineal Gland. Although Fluoride cannot cross the Blood-Brain-Barrier, the Pineal gland is outside of the barrier, and thus, is susceptible to the build up of ingested Fluoride.

I know more studies need to be done to bring more supportive data to the table, but since I am trying to keep my THIRD EYE wide-open, I plan on avoiding the ingestion of Fluoride every chance I get. It is not worth the risk in my opinion, and since there are numerous scientific studies showing hard evidence that Fluoride is harmful to our bodies in multiple ways, I personally choose to play it safe rather than be sorry. This is not about fear, this is about our health, and making the right choices to keep our bodies running in optimal condition. It seems like it isn't the biggest health risk out there, but again, I am not willing to take the risk, so I try my best to drink Fluoride-free water whenever I can.

Here is one study:

Fluoride Deposition in the Aged Human Pineal Gland

Abstract
The purpose was to discover whether fluoride (F) accumulates in the aged human pineal gland. The aims were to determine (a) F-concentrations of the pineal gland (wet), corresponding muscle (wet) and bone (ash); (b) calcium-concentration of the pineal. Pineal, muscle and bone were dissected from 11 aged cadavers and assayed for F using the HMDS-facilitated diffusion, F-ionspecific electrode method. Pineal calcium was determined using atomic absorption spectroscopy. Pineal and muscle contained 297±257 and 0.5±0.4 mg F/kg wet weight, respectively; bone contained 2,037±1,095 mg F/kg ash weight. The pineal contained 16,000±11,070 mg Ca/kg wet weight. There was a positive correlation between pineal F and pineal Ca (r = 0.73, p<0.02) but no correlation between pineal F and bone F. By old age, the pineal gland has readily accumulated F and its F/Ca ratio is higher than bone.

Discussion
This study has added new knowledge on the fate and distribution of fluoride in the body. It has shown for the first time that fluoride readily accumulates in the human pineal gland although there was considerable inter-individual variation (14-875 mg F/kg). By old age, the average pineal gland contains about the same amount of fluoride as teeth (300 mg F/kg) since dentine and whole enamel contain 300 and 100 mg F/kg, respectively [Newbrun, 1986]. Unlike brain capillaries, pineal capillaries allow the free passage of fluoride through the endothelium. If there had been a bloodbrain barrier in the pineal, it would have prevented the passage of fluoride into the pinealocytes and the pineal fluoride content would have been similar to or lower than muscle. This was obviously not the case: the fluoride concentration of the pineal was significantly higher (p<0.001) than muscle. The high fluoride levels in the pineal are presumably due to the large surface area of the HA crystallites both intra- and extracellularly. In addition, the pineal has a profuse blood flow and high capillary density; pineal blood flow (4 ml/min/g) is second only to the kidney [Arendt, 19951.

Here is a list of some studies that have been done on the adverse effect of abnormally high quantities of Fluoride in our body. I have not verified these studies, and I have not looked at what dosages were tested, but based on some research and reading I have done over the last year, I choose to not put any more Fluoride into my body than I have to for now. I would like to get more opinions on this in the meantime. Please check these out:

1. Fluoride exposure disrupts the synthesis of collagen and leads to the breakdown of collagen in bone, tendon, muscle, skins, cartilage, lungs, kidney and trachea.

3. Fluoride depletes the energy reserves and the ability of white blood cells to properly destroy foreign agents by the process of phagocytosis. As little as 0.2 ppm fluoride stimulates

superperoxide production in resting white blood cells, virtually abolishing phagocytosis. Even micro-molar amounts of fluoride, below 1 ppm, may seriously depress the ability of white blood cells to destroy pathogenic agents.

Other Facts

The contents of a family size tube of fluoridated toothpaste is enough to kill a 25 pound child.

In 1991, the Akron (Ohio) Regional Poison Center reported that “death has been reported following ingestion of 16mg/kg of fluoride. Only 1/10 of an ounce of fluoride could kill a 100 pound adult. According to the Center, “fluoride toothpaste contains up to 1mg/gram of fluoride.” Even Proctor and Gamble, the makers of Crest, acknowledge that a family-sized tube “theoretically contains enough fluoride to kill a small child.”

Fluorides have been used to modify behavior and mood of human beings. It is a little known fact that fluoride compounds were added to the drinking water of prisoners to keep them docile and inhibit questioning of authority, both in Nazi prison camps in World War II and in the Soviet gulags in Siberia.

Fluorides are medically categorized as protoplasmic poisons, which is why they are used to kill rodents.

The September 18, 1943 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, states, “fluorides are general protoplasmic poisons, changing the permeability of the cell membrane by inhibiting certain enzymes. The exact mechanisms of such actions are obscure.”

Fluoride consumption by human beings increases the general cancer death rate.

In 1975 Dr. John Yiamouyiannis published a preliminary survey which showed that people in fluoridated areas have a higher cancer death rate than those in non-fluoridated areas. The National Cancer Institute attempted to refute the studies. Later in 1975 Yiamouyiannis joined with Dr. Dean Burk, chief chemist of the National Cancer Institute (1939-1974) in performing other studies which were then included in the Congressional Record by Congressman Delaney, who was the original author of the Delaney Amendment, which prohibited the addition of cancer-causing substances to food used for human consumption. Both reports confirmed the existence of a link between fluoridation and cancer. (Note: Obviously Dr. Burk felt free to agree with scientific truth only after his tenure at National Cancer Institute ended, since his job depended on towing the party line).

Fluorides have little or no effect on decay prevention in humans.

In 1990 Dr. John Colquhoun was forced into early retirement in New Zealand after he conducted a study on 60,000 school children and found no difference in tooth decay between fluoridated and unfluoridated areas. He additionally found that a substantial number of children in fluoridated areas suffered from dental fluorosis. He made the study public. There is no scientific data that shows that fluoride mouth rinses and tablets are safe for human use.

In 1989 a study by Hildebolt, et al. on 6,000 school children contradicted any alleged benefit from the use of sodium fluorides. A 1990 study by Dr. John Yiamouyiannis on 39,000 school children contradicted any alleged benefits from the use of sodium fluorides. In 1992 Michael Perrone, a legislative assistant in New Jersey, contacted the FDA requesting all information regarding the safety and effectiveness of fluoride tablets and drops. After 6 months of stalling, the FDA admitted they had no data to show that fluoride tablets or drops were either safe or effective. They informed Perrone that they will “probably have to pull the tablets and drops off the market.”

The fact that fluoride toothpastes and school based mouth rinses are packaged in aluminum accentuates the effect on the body.

In 1976, Dr. D. Allman and coworkers from Indiana University School of Medicine fed animals 1 part-per-million (ppm) fluoride and found that in the presence of aluminum, in a concentration as small as 20 parts per billion, fluoride is able to cause an even larger increase in cyclic AMP levels. Cyclic AMP inhibits the migration rate of white blood cells, as well as the ability of the white blood cell to destroy pathogenic disease-causing) organisms. Reference: Journal of Dental Research, Vol. 55, Sup B, p. 523, 1976, “Effect of Inorganic Fluoride Salts on Urine and Tissue Cyclic AMP Concentration in Vivo”. (Note: It is no small accident that toothpaste tubes containing fluoride are often made of aluminum)

“Fluoridation is the greatest case of scientific fraud of this century”

Robert Carlton, Ph. D., former U. S. EPA scientist on “Marketplace” Canadian Broadcast Company, Nov. 24, 1992 “Regarding fluoridation, the EPA should act immediately to protect the public, not just on the cancer data, but on the evidence of bone fractures, arthritis, mutagenicity and other effects”

William Marcus, Ph. D., senior EPA toxicologist, Covert Action, Fall 1992, p. 66

What is Flouride free water?  Does bottled water count?  Can you get rid of flouride with those Brita filters?

I'm going to GUESS that all these bone problems and problems in general come from the F bonding to atoms in our bodies like Calcium because the Flourine atoms are going to have a higher need to bond than other atoms associated with the Ca, or Na for that matter.  Flourine's like, “No fuck you, that shit's mine!”  Then proceeds to ass rape our bones.

The reason why is actually very interesting.  NaCl, otherwise known as table salt, contains Chlorine which is similar to Flourine (both group VII elements).  Flourine has a higher electronegativity though…essentially a rating of how much it wants electrons.  It actually has the highest electronegativity out of any element, so it's just going to go through your body and rip out Ca or Na or whatever is an ion able to be dissociated (Flouride is a anion).  Unfortunately, CaF is insoluble, so it sticks around and can result in hypocalcemia!  Phew!  That sucks.

I wonder if taking calcium supplements/multivitamins containing calcium would be a good way of offsetting the effects of drinking a lot of tap water containing flouride?  Probably.

I do wonder what is in my tap water. it is so horrific it is definitely not drinkable. I have to filter that stuff for my cats.

it even makes my skin feel funny just showering with it. the tap water where I live is NASTY.

Give me a break.  Try going to rural Africa and drinking water out of wells or the streams there all the time, hopefully not contracting some disease because there's no filtering plants or yes, additives.

We have it so good here with our water and yet it still isn't good enough for people.  Even if it isn't the best tap water, it still isn't worth complaining about.  Quit whining, Spoiled McSpoilerson.

hell yeah Phil, busting out the chemistry!

i think you are right, it definitely has to do with bonding.

My guess is that since Flouride has 7 valence electrons, it wants to get to 8 valence electrons to be stable, and if it is not bound to anything, it will start seeking out electrons and 'stealing' an electron from other atoms. Then those atoms will now be short an electron, and they will go seek out an electron from a different atom. This is similar to how Free Radicals cause damage to our body I believe.

Would be cool to have a true chemist's perspective on how Fluoride causes this damage.

What is your major by the way? I know you had an organic chemistry test, so I assume you are something like Biology or Chemistry?

Cool that we can have these nerdy science talks, hehe 🙂 I am way proud to be a NERD. I love it!

       Ripper: Mandrake?

       Mandrake: Yes, Jack?

Ripper: Have you ever seen a Commie drink a glass of water?

       Mandrake: Well, I can't say I have.

Ripper: Vodka, that's what they drink, isn't it? Never water?

Mandrake: Well, I-I believe that's what they drink, Jack, yes.

Ripper: On no account will a Commie ever drink water, and not without good reason.

Mandrake: Oh, eh, yes. I, uhm, can't quite see what you're getting at, Jack.

Ripper: Water, that's what I'm getting at, water. Mandrake, water is the source of all life. Seven-tenths of this earth's surface is water. Why, do you realize that seventy percent of you is water?

       Mandrake: Uh, uh, Good Lord!

Ripper: And as human beings, you and I need fresh, pure water to replenish our precious bodily fluids.

Mandrake: Yes. (he begins to chuckle nervously)

Ripper: Are you beginning to understand?

       Mandrake: Yes. (more laughter)

Ripper: Mandrake. Mandrake, have you never wondered why I drink only distilled water, or rain water, and only pure-grain alcohol?

Mandrake: Well, it did occur to me, Jack, yes.

Ripper: Have you ever heard of a thing called fluoridation. Fluoridation of water?

Mandrake: Uh? Yes, I-I have heard of that, Jack, yes. Yes.

Ripper: Well, do you know what it is?

Mandrake: No, no I don't know what it is, no.

Ripper: Do you realize that fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous Communist plot we have ever had to face?

I truly believe that certain topics are sometimes used in movies to make them seem more fictional and less believable.

This very well might have been the reason for the whole “chamber beneath the Sphynx” plot of the 'Secret Treasure' movie. Perhaps it was harmlessly included in the plot, or perhaps it was put in there to make the notion of a chamber beneath the Sphynx more laughable and “Hollywood”, but truth be told, a chamber beneath the Sphynx was indeed discovered by a team of scientists. Unfortunately, those scientists were immediately fired by the Egyptologists that had given them permission to conduct research there, and then the Egyptologists entered the chamber on their own, and later staged an internationally televised “live opening” of the chamber on television to milk it for as much television network profits as they could. For more information on this subject, see these two links:

1. http://www.catchpenny.org/chamber.html
2. http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/egipto/esp_esfinge_2b.htm

It is common knowledge that the CIA has funded movies and propaganda in the past to influence public opinion, so it would not surprise me if this movie specifically targeted the 'Fluoride conspiracy theory' to ridicule it.

It is important to point out that Fluoride might be put in our water for profit, because perhaps whoever supplies the Fluoride makes lots of money off of that and all the other corporations and chemicals they probably sell…

…and another scenario, is that maybe the FDA or some organization thought that since Fluoride was good for teeth, that it was probably OK to ingest at some point in the distant past, but they might have never gotten around to researching it more thoroughly to see if has negative health effects, or perhaps lobbyists prevent them from researching it to see if it is causing problems…

who knows though, it is just my personal choice that I want to avoid swallowing Fluoride as much as I can.

someone asked about Brita water filters, but they do not remove the Fluoride. only higher quality filters do, such as reverse-osmosis filters I believe. Unfortunately I use a Brita filter because I am broke as a joke, but someday I hope to upgrade to a better filter system, hopefully one built right into the faucet.

Water is yummy 🙂

^have you seen Dr. Strangelove? If not, it's worth seeing. I would be surprised if that one had a CIA hand in it, but who knows? It's about pre-emptive nuclear mutually assured destruction during the cold war, and it's a comedy.

I think the fluoridation controversy has been going on for a while – since it was introduced into the nation's water supply…

Here's another inexpensive water purification option (although it would be tough to use year-round), the solar still: http://www.survivalmetrics.com/id_solar-still-water-purification-kit

I want to build a stand-alone solar still at some point in the near future. Our water could taste better, too.

Reverse-osmosis filtration is the only method that removes fluoride from tap water (last I checked). Natural spring water shouldn't have any to begin with.

The government adds fluoride to the water because it strengthens teeth and prevents cavities. That is the motive. I think this is hilarious from an institution that promotes gross over-consumption of sugars. I think if the government was really concerned about the integrity of our teeth they would first regulate the massive and totally unsafe amounts of sugar in sodas and other things people consume daily without understanding the effects it has on their bodies.

This is one of the oldest conspiracy theories in the country. Water fluoridation has much controversy with it, and for good reason.

Why exactly does an infant need extra fluoride in their water? They don't even have teeth. And the teeth they develop will fall out. So what's the reason?

What's more: swallowing fluoride does not strengthen your teeth. It has to make contact with the enamel for any effect. It's not like you digest the fluoride and it works it's way up to your teeth to make them stronger. So again, what is the point?

The negative effects greatly outweigh the almost immeasurable benefits. Call me a conspiracy nut if you want. The effects of fluoride, both positive and negative, are measurable by science. All that is unclear is the motive.

Holy Buckets… that is one interesting plot for a movie right there. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I have never heard of it before.

Here is the plot summary from imdb:

Plot Summary for
Capricorn One (1977)

Classic conspiracy tale about the first manned mission to Mars. All appears to be going well until the astronauts are pulled off the ship just before launch by shadowy government types and whisked off to a film studio in the desert. It transpires that the space vehicle has a major defect which NASA just daren't admit. At the studio, over a course of months, the astronauts are forced to act out the journey and the landing to trick the world into believing they have made the trip. Meanwhile, a Journalist (played by Gould) is getting suspicious and every clue he uncovers seems to result in an attempt on his life! The astronauts are just about to splashdown when a further twist to the tale occurs, leaving them with no choice but to try and escape…
