I had a wonderful time at the party.  Got to check me out some honey's in da house.

Who was that guy leading the workshops on Saturday afternoon?  That took some guts to get up there in front of everyone and try to shake us to life.  He's far braver then I could have been.  That showed a strong strength of character.  Did my spirit good!

That point aside, I had a wonderful time at this gathering. The venue has to be the most comfortable, and best equiped i have ever been to. Having such a selection of food available, plus a bar, lake, plenty of camping, It was just a joy.
The vibe was very nice to, and very family oriented.

Very sad i missed Primordial Oozes set, but from those i caught, Medisin, Underfoot, Meghan, Collison & Atkif were the standout trance bringers of the weeked, and of course my cohort in crime Random brough it down hard on you all.
On the downtempo front i really loved Kaiser's, Sot's, and Nod's sets…..

For the birching half of the review though, You folks  need to learn some stamina. The party is just getting started at 3am, not ending. It seems more than half of those in attendance, just paid $40 to go camping with your friends for the weekend. It seems so few of those in attendance ever made it to either the trance floor or chill stage, and so many artsists that played were only playing for themselves, especially in the chillout.
Mad props goes to the Iowa posse for keeping the main stage occupied at least and dancing their asses off in true spirit of the sound

That minor beef ( or was it chicken) aside, I had a wonderful time and hope to see many of you again soon

Hello hello you people! Thank you for coming. I had a wonderful time. I must say this was the most easy going Chilluminati event ever. No sweat, no stress. I think we're starting to get ahang of it. I've got tons of pictures!!! I shot 500 in all. Which means I'll need another week or so to go through them and pick my favs. Meanwhile, I know I was able to give out music to many people. I agree…  There was piss poor attendance for your set.  I personally was talking to Random while I was listening to it, so I wasn't dancing a whole lot, but it was because I had been dancing straight to Derby, Shai, Collision, Aktif, Meghan, and Random before you (My legs still are feeling it).  When I was dancing though, I was the guy in the dark blue hoodie bouncing around.  Killer morning set, by the way.  What you said is totally true, and I'm glad you had the balls to say it.  I know the term “rave”seems to be kind of avoided in this circle, but it certainly isn't just a weekend campout.  Keep dancing people!

Mike, that video is really funny.  I especially like the part where you're in the bushes eating them.

Doesn't help that the space is so spread out.  I mean, you need that for a festival, but it makes it easy for folks to retreat into their hidey-holes.  No work-around for this, other than to rope more attendees, and that means bringing aboard more commercial headlining talent completely removed from the psy arena (because even if we brought a major psy act, we'd still net roughly the same crowd).  So it becomes a choice of sacrificing integrity for headcount.  For now we'll stick with integrity…but barren dancefloors *do* suck, and it *does* sometimes feel like a waste of good music. 

Also, when you're working at an event, it's impossible to can't catch everyone you'd like to.  Like, I was really enjoying your set, but then had to leave to take care of comping folks.  One less dancer on the floor!

One of the things keeping my spirits up about the chill area was that campsite just on top of the hill — not out of range of the sound.  So that was kind of an audience, albeit out of view.

First off thanks Chilluminati for bringing out us
Goahead's and letting us be a part of this
experience.

Before anything is written about anything at all,
I hope everyone stops to take a minute to
realize what it takes to actually pull something
like this off. So, I really extend my thanks and
gratitude for all of the planning and hard work.
I know first hand what it takes to promote
events, and sometimes a very simple thank you
goes a long way.

The weather was amazing!
Primordial Ooze is onto something!
Derby and JJ threw down an epic sets!
Meghan's set under a full moon was all I could ask for!
Chillin with Shai by the fire was good times!
Toki's Closing set was proper!
The only thing between Ohio is Indiana and
Illinois. Chillin with the Iowa folks made me
feel right at home.
I loved playing Chill sets back to back with NOD!

Speaking of Chillout. I hope you all realize that
Chill stage is one of the best I have ever seen.
The location right by the lake is amazing. That
was the second time I had a chance to spin chill
at Sunrise by the lake and it has been a great
experience both times.

i think the midwest scene may be in more of the one-nighter phase right now, though i really enjoy the chance to stretch things out for a full weekend. let people get a taste of the one-nighters all fall/winter/spring and maybe by next summer they'll be ready for a proper weekend rager (or a 5-day in CO 😉 )

i personally wussed out the second night because i wanted to be somewhat coherent for the trip home (and i knew that monday morning i had to go rescue a network that went ass-plode while i was out of town), but i was definitely bummed that i missed the infamous morning paradigm shift (and probably another fucking gorgeous sunrise).

i was once again overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the attendees (especially the psyowans!) and how excited folks out there still get for trance festivals, rather than having to hear people bitching about the little things that they don't like…had some great neighbors in the camp zone from parts unknown (or un-remembered, in any case) and generally had a fucking blast all weekend. at one point (after his set) medisin told me that it was the best birthday present he could have asked for…y'all really do have some good shit building up there, i'm really excited to see the continuance into next summer!

saturday night i had a bit of a 'moment' looking at the chilluminati collage, thinking about how very lucky i am to be able to feel like a member of such a great community up there even though i live too far away to really be directly involved…many thanks to all the organizers and participants who have created so many beautiful spaces (in several beautiful places) and opened themselves up to all us travelling freaks coming through!

hopin to make my thanksgiving trip back up to chicago long enough to go check the psyowa scene, so perhaps i'll be seein some of y'all again before too long…

The Chill Stage represented about 2 1/2 days of prep time and work not including the efforts of Dimitry and Pauldo.

If we are sharing beefs one of mine would be the degree to which people take deco for granted and don't realize how much more work, arguably, it is than what the other artists do.
