I honestly had an amazing time at this party..I raged it harder then I have in the past and it felt great..warm and fuzzy 😀  It was great to see everyone that i haven't seen in ages and reminded me why I love going to Chilluminati events.

Adam, I expect greatness the next time we get to hang out..

the dog's name is Molly, as someone said, and it is HardkoreNate's dog. the dog is very old and very ornery, due in great part to her cataracts. she cannot see well and does not like to be touched. i have known the dog for over a year and every time i see her she attempts to bite me if i try to pet her. she just likes to roam and be left alone. pets are not allowed at the events unless someone has specifically requested to bring one, so i think in the future we are going to require that all pets are kept on leashes. there is no reason that animals should be free-roaming at an event where there are small children also roaming. apologies to the family of the child that was bit, i hope it was not severe. normally the animal just nips to scare, and not to inflict serious pain or damage. please let me know if this matter needs more addressing… from past experiences though, i can assure you that the dog is not much of a threat. i hope the child is ok. please let us know!

yes i agree i hope the lil one is ok.she snapped at me the 1st time i tried to pet her too.till i foud out she was just a really old dog w health probs.in fact as i recall ( and nate correct me if im wrong) but dont she have severe arthritis, which would probably hurt her to be touched by some1 that aint used to her ailments.anyway ive learned to just let her be and try to figure out how this dog came to look so much like falcor.as for makin her a warning shirt i think “this bitch bites” should b added to the “warning: do not pet”.

Yeah… animals should not be taken to events in my opinion.  I accidentally stepped on the big black dog Saturday night as it was laying down on the grass in the dark.  🙁

I disagree. My dog is not only my pet he's also my best friend! He had a lot of fun when I brought him to Field Trip. I think if you are going to bring a pet, it should be OK with people and music.  I think they should be on a leash too. There's too many things that can happen.

That's bullshit.  How do you know if the dog is OK with loud music and tons of people?  You can't possibly know for sure.  It might seem fine, but a lot of dogs would follow their owners to the depths of hell if they led it there.  It's probably happy to be around you like always, but as you said yourself there are too many things that can happen…not to mention dogs have really sensitive ears…I can only imagine the overstimulation it receives over the course of the weekend.  I think people are ok with bringing dogs because our parties are like a camping trip (and I would bring a dog on a camping trip).  Psytrance parties are not just camping trips though.  Part of being a responsible owner is finding a way to make sure someone can take care of it over the weekend while you're gone.  IMO, it's selfish and irresponsible to bring pets to parties such as these and I don't know why we tolerate it.

I mostly worry about the poor dogs' ears… even humans need earplugs for these sound systems!

i agree with ya Phil, but i think Nate's dog is an exception. Molly has been known / observed crashing directly in front of the sub woofers, literally laying right up against them, as if she is intentionally getting a back massage. you would think that if pets didnt like the music they would stay away from it, but with Nate's dog, she heads towards the music 🙂 she's a special one if you ask me… i just wish she was more pet-friendly… she always tries to bite me when i attempt to pet her, so Earth Dance 2009 was the first time i just avoided her 😀

Just to let everyone know, we were able to donate 112 lbs of canned goods, as well as several articles of clothing to the crisis center. Great work everyone!

Also check out http://www.metaentrance.com for pics.

Could you remove the pictures from your site that were NOT taken by you and which were NOT explicitly permitted to be posted on your site by the people that actually took them?

I asked you once in private and now I'm asking you again in public.

I find this kind of thing to be pretty disrespectful.

About the dogs, I think they should be permitted at such events, but the owners need to take full responsibility for them by either keeping them on a leash at all times, or at the very least be around them at all times, paying attention to what they are doing. Free roaming dogs is nothing but trouble. If taking care of them cuts into the owner's fun, then they should be left at home. Seems like a simple responsible choice.

Agreed. I was not asked permission, and apparently Septa wasn't either. Also.. she's got her pictures tagged on the bottom, which means the copyright info was intentionally cropped out. Instead of going through all that work you could've just linked to where you got the images from instead of stealing from others to promote your own website which is now guilty of copyright infringement.

I'm not one to really get worked up about this stuff because I know things have a way of balancing out, but you might want to consider the alternative.

they certainly are. however, as a simple courtesy, the owner could've been contacted to ask if it was ok to publish them. or, at the very least, a link could've been provided to the original source. neither of these things were done. and on top of all that, the wishes of the owner are not respected, when kindly asked to remove them.

it's a minor thing, but at this point it's a matter of principle.

i mean, so much grandiose talk about community, consciousness, enlightenment, vibrations, and yet people forget….basic courtesy?

kinda understand where you guys coming from but you have already posted them on public servers, right? that is where they come from, right? anybody can have them, right?

Sunra just posted them on her beutiful webstie to show how great event it was, using a lot of nice pictures you guy took (which we all greatly appreciate for) with chilldren and family vibes…they are not exclusive pieces of art, just nice pictures…

nothing to be hyped up about  imo, i understand courtesy but also I do understand something like common sense…

Artistic works (photos, music, art, ect) are automatically copyrighted upon their conception. We have posted our copyrighted works on a public forum but that in no way gives explicit privileges to others to claim ownership of these materials or use them how they please. There are specific licenses for that (creative commons as an example). On the website http://metaentrance.com/ on the bottom you'll see that the webmaster has specified a copyright claim on the presented material. On top of this, the printed copyright on Septa's photos have been removed, so the owner of the website has violated these copyrights knowingly and intentionally.

So to answer your question… no. This would be the same as a producer on this forum posting one of their tracks and someone hosting the audiofile on their own site and claiming the music as their own. Without explicit permission you can be sued for this. Again “I” personally don't care… I posted the link to the photos so people could enjoy them obviously. Just explaining what this actually is and why we'd all be better off avoiding it, considering how many independent artists there are in this community. It would be different if we were asked permission, or at the very least a link to the sources of the photos with the author credited.

Just ask next time. Common courtesy as Septa said.

i think making music takes a little bit more effort, time, skillz and money so I don't agree it would be the same thing…

I agree: contacting original author would be a very nice gesture and Sunra should give you guys credit for such nice shots… but if you take a look at the purpose of the whole thing, does it really matter? it's not that someone is making money of it…

i normally wouldn't care too much about something like this. but my wife does. it's a hobby of hers and i've noticed she's pretty selective with which photos get marked as Creative Commons. if she feels strongly about this, then i'm behind her 100% and i think her wishes should be respected.

and although i agree with you, machi, that music making is seemingly a more involved process (i'm a musician and this point comes up quite a lot in our conversations), i still recognize that you can get as deep as you want with photography. it's not all point-and-shoot and hope for happy accidents. money… we are looking around for a more professional camera right now and holy shit, have you seen what these things go for? effort and dedication… because of her obsession, she shows me stories like this one guy slept in the mountains for 4 days because he wanted to get this specific shot and he was waiting for the sun and the lightning to be just right. just like all psy might sound all the same to the untrained ear (“all that damn untz untz techno music”), even though people sit there obsessively tweaking filter envelopes and cutting those odd harmonics and compressing things slightly. you can bet some people get obsessive with fotography, setting their shots just right, adjusting the camera just right, tweaking things in photoshop just right, selective that special one out of dozens of seemingly similar versions.

anyway, this is kind of off-topic, just some general observations of the comparable value of arts (photography vs. music… which is actually kind of surprising for me to state because i'm usually on the other end of the argument). this is obviously not really the case here, although it's obvious that there are some pictures that were done in a very conscious way, taking into consideration the overall composition (shapes, empty spaces, colors, etc), in addition to the typical “yay-we-are-together-doing-stuff” family-album type shots.

so i didn't really have a problem with this before, but i do now, due to the way people went about doing this. i didn't even notice the the tags were cropped out. i mean, some thought must've gone into this action, no? why would someone go through all that trouble? and when i contacted them, they removed the link to their website (which looks like is back in the post now, due to the edit by a mod), but didn't remove any of the pictures. and didn't even bother to respond back to me. that is what i have more problems with, than the initial act. i mean, it's stupid that we even need to be talking so much about all of this, since this could've been prevented or resolved if people just took 5 seconds out of their busy life to do what's right. just some things that make you go “hmm.”

    yay, drama.  ::)
