But for the spoiled snob like me (maybe there are few more out there)

mmm, nope, pretty sure it's just you   ;D

Don't get me wrong I love and support anything Chilluminati do with all my heart but just was looking forward to the chill tradition being kept alive. I was so very impressed with the new sounds I have heard every Earthdance.  I know that they aren't a big draw like Electropsynose is, but hey, I am 38 years old now, daddy needs to kick back 🙂

Please don't take it as a knock at all, it is an incredible lineup for both stages, just was surprised as there is such a strong tradition of the chill area being headlined.

I hear ya Jeff, I doubt anyone is taking offense. It's just a shift in paradigm :).

Although there may not be a big, new chill name (I still wanna know if Electrypnose played chill last time he was in the midwest- anyone?) playing at ED this year, there will definitely be a variety of excellent sounds in which to chill out to :).

I think the lineup is fine! If Damon wants to hate on it from across the pond that's fine, but it's not very constructive.
Also, if Chilluminati are serious about international chill headliners, I know some who've expressed interest in playing out here and will be in the states in October. That's too late for this event, but maybe for Crystal Sky.

He did not (if I remember correctly).

    Jesus fuckin' Christ.

    Hate?

Saying that lineup is the weakest doesn't equal hate for fuck's sake.

Seriously, did this forum turn into another one where only “patting on friends' backs” is acceptable?

yeah… I guess i  will be a bandwagon jumper here too.
While the main stage does look solid (not a fan of Jellyheadz by any means tho,.. meh), im curious to hear the other projects and sounds by Electrypnose as he is actually quite a skilled and talented producer. Certainly the top-tier of night time producers, and one of the few IMHO in that areana that actually has decent production values.

but yeah, while Alligning Minds is deff some good chill, It do agree with Jeff and Damon. After having so many good chill headliners years past, and having the chill stage be just as well set up and dominant as the trance stage, this ED, does seem a bit more formulaic and more typical of your standard trance campout.
Not that, thats really a bad thing, but i do think that a nice phat chill headliner would be nice…..

I just don't see how calling it the weakest lineup is going to help. Chill music has always been relegated to the back seat throughout Chilluminati's history, with exceptions. The website says it's about promoting psytrance and goa music and culture, not chill or whatever else. If we are serious about putting chill acts on the mainstage, then we need to coordinate, rather than complaining. Personally, I haven't had the time in the last couple years, but I foresee myself becoming much more involved after this summer.

well, if I can step in and say something, i would like to say that having Electrypnose do a live PA chill set was actually somewhat planned by me as a larger chill act for some time.  I wanted to bring him last year, but he wasn't available so we brought Robert Rich instead because he was.  After having Aes Dana, Phutureprimitive, and Rich for three respective years, i knew that this would be a hard lineup to follow and I expected some criticism for not delivering a “shocker” chill headliner, like in times past.

Personally, I do not view Electrypnose as a sub-par chill headliner compared to the others.  I rank his chill right up there with the best of the best.  I've always booked the chill headliners for selfish reasons and with little regard to other people's opinions— I've always brought out who I wanted to see.  You know that Damon.  ;D  That is probably a bit counterproductive, in a sense, but I think that his chill performance will be nothing short of amazing.

We've been working our asses off on this lineup for this year, and there were a few artists that fell through because it just wouldn't work out for this year.

With that being said, I'd like also state that our chill headliner for 2010 Earthdance is already confirmed.  ;D  Criticism is a good thing— even from a cynic like Damon (who is probably just pissed that he can't come!)

You are pretty much responsible for making me fall so deeply in love with chill. Being a non-dj and someone who does not have time to keep up with music really I am introduced to new chill stuff mainly through dj sets and earthdance 🙂 I still talk about Robert Rich and Aes Dana as pivotal music moments in my life – and going to electronic events for near 20 years that is saying something, so thank you.

It's been that way for quite some time now…

It gets on my nerves too, Damon.
