I believe that therapy (with a trustable, ethical, and intelligent therapist of your liking) *is* a good thing. The reasons why have little to do with crazy, and everything to do with human.

Will you please explain why you think I need therapy, and how it might benefit me?

    Thanks,

I'm not saying you need therapy. I'm saying that I believe all people could benefit from it (but not with some quack).

I think that therapy can work just as any other form of personal growth can work (I agree with Pauldo there). I view a good therapist as a nuanced, gentle guide in your journey through the most difficult parts of yourself. That person can not only create a trusted setting, but remain emotionally present and grounded enough to help you work through some very rough terrain.

I think that pretty much everyone in our species has baggage we could do well to unpack. Whichever way a person chooses to unpack their baggage, I'm all for it. Therapy can be a good means to that end… journaling is a valuable tool as well. I'm sure you can think of some more.

oh, i see what you mean.

yeah, i agree to some extent. I think the beneficial part of therapy is being in a trusting setting where you can voice your problems, no matter how whacky they might seem. i think a lot of people hold their true feelings in, and as a result, put unnecessary stress on themselves, which leads to mental break downs and increased need for therapy.

so, I agree to some extent, but to be more accurate, I think all people could benefit from expressing their honest feelings instead of holding them in, and therapy is just one setting that allows and encourages folks to do that.

just my 2 cents, and thanks for sharing yours of course

Or therapy could be good when you are unable from expressing your honest feelings in an inappropriate setting.  Exploring why your “filters” seem to be off or broken.

There is one person that I know of that has tried to replicate some of Mr. Hutchison's effects using complex setups involving magnets and other things. His name is Ace Baker, and he once was a big Dr. Wood supporter, but all of a sudden, he became a Dr. Wood hater. He used to look at evidence and then give his opinion, but now he ignores evidence yet still holds a strong opinion.

He claimed he successfully replicated The Hutchison effect on the radio, only to later be called out for faking the effects. He admitted to faking them. More importantly, his fake videos were only able to replicate 2 or 3 of the anomalies seen in The Hutchison Effect,  but none of the other ones.

You can see a comparison of many of Mr. Hutchison's videos in comparison to the videos that Ace Baker made here: http://www.drjudywood.com/articles/JJ/JJ_troll_challenge.html

you can also read more about evidence that suggests Ace Baker was purposely trying to discredit Mr. Hutchison for reasons that we don't need to discuss in this thread.
