Music Without Borders: Anoushka Shankar “Rise” Featuring Special Guest DJ Set By Karsh KaleÂ
Date: 8/13/2006Â Â
Time: 6:30 PM – 8:30 PMÂPark location: Jay Pritzker Pavilion
Millennium Park brings incredible artists from around the globe directly to you during the new Music Without Borders series. The series is part of the city's ongoing celebration of world music, inspired by the annual World Music Festival.
Anoushka Shankar has emerged from the shadows of her famed father and teacher Ravi Shankar in her latestoffering, “Riseâ€, and journeyed beyond the musical traditions of India to create her own sound. “Rise†is not only a testament to her skill at the sitar, but to her mastery of composition… “Rise†is full of twists and turns of mood, but never fails to enchant. With “Riseâ€, Anoushka Shankar might have gone beyond the traditional Indian fare but her journey is full of flavor. “Rise†was nominated for a 2006 Grammy® Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album. This concert marks her Chicago debut as a leader.
This series is supported by a grant from the Governor's International Arts Exchange program of the Illinois ArtsÂ

;DHey Rob…you should come out on the sat night before to catch Talvin Singh and KK at this place called the Hot House. It's a non-profit club (serve booze) and they host all kinds of different events. I won't being going to the Sunday event but you are welcome to crash at my place if you don't mind a sleeping bag on the floor (small studio apartment). ;D
