paradigmMemberMeet Xcience (conjunction of Exact Science) the midwest's newest psy DJ crew and soon to be event orgs.
As a mission statement, all DJ's current and future in Xcience are the cream of the crop. All excel at the exact science of smooth mixing and transitions. All can create a seamless set that takes the dancer on a journey,and while not limited to a specific style, all fill a complementary roll with one another, so a full nights journey can be composed fully of Xcience DJ's. Another premise is all members of Xcience, play on a physical medium. CDJ's and Turntables. No Traktor, No Ableton, No Seratto, No laptops and visually matching wav files. We are DJ's for DJ's sake.
In choosing members of the crew, besides the above criteria, Not more than 1 DJ was pulled or chosen from a particular crew, so as to not make Xcience appear a subsect of another crew. We are a separate entity and while we welcome the chance and opportunity to work with others, we also want to be able to stand on our own. Regional considerations also played at part in the process of decisions.

They should hurry up. A CD is nothing more than an inefficient way to store a file.

And being the dj snob i am, and though ive heard some good laptop sets, from a artistic and visual P.O.V. i dont feel a laptop carries the same vibe that “spinning does”
plus this may be just me, and what ive come across but ive never seen ANY Laptop dj, run a mix over a minute, or ever get jiggy with it on a mixer.
that aside, whats the big deal if one crew chooses a criteria such as this. Some crews only have neuro dj's, some only full on, some only people of certain ethnic backgrounds. This is what sets us a part, and creates a signature

I run four tracks for about five minutes and I beat the piss out of the mixer. But hey, if it LOOKS like vinyl, its better, right?

Nothing wrong with setting yourselves apart.
And yes, I have ran mixes for longer than a minute on my laptop.

RobyoParticipantBTW, how do you pronounce XCIENCE? Is it like “excited?” (ex-science) or “Zion-ce?” or or just “science” but with an “X?” And why didn't you call it “PSYENCE”? ;D

paradigmMemberits pronounced just like Science is, and as above its the conjucntion of eXact and sCIENCE together. Its the X making the soft x sound as in foX or Xlyaphone instead of a hard x like Xray
and psycience IMO though obvious, is just that, too obvious
Xcience is also announcing our 6th and final member for the time being. A lovely lady whose deep thunky sounds adds the perfect compliment to the others of the crew….

paradigmMember@ Geal, none at all. Its just the premise of the crew. Though when other people are booked and brought in, the only criteria is that you can bring it, and represent the sound we are looking to fill at any given time.
For those outside the crew, the medium is unimportant -
